We are seeking an experienced, enthusiastic, and highly organised Breakfast & Afterschool Club Manager to lead the day-to-day operation of our provision.

Role Overview

The Breakfast & Afterschool Club Manager will be responsible for the overall management, organisation, and delivery of the provision, ensuring that children receive high-quality care in a safe, stimulating, and inclusive environment.

The successful candidate will lead a team of staff, oversee safeguarding practices, maintain compliance with relevant regulations, and build positive relationships with children, families, schools, and external agencies.

As part of this role, the successful candidate will also act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) for the provision.

Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Management

Lead and manage the daily operation of the breakfast and afterschool clubs.
Supervise, support, and develop staff members.
Ensure staffing ratios are maintained at all times.
Conduct staff briefings and support ongoing professional development.
Promote a positive, supportive, and child-centred culture.

Childcare & Programme Delivery

Plan and oversee a varied programme of activities suitable for children aged 3–11 years.
Ensure activities promote wellbeing, creativity, independence, and social development.
Foster a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment where all children can thrive.
Support children with individual needs and additional requirements where appropriate.

Safeguarding

Act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) for the provision.
Maintain up-to-date safeguarding knowledge and training.
Manage safeguarding concerns in accordance with statutory guidance and company procedures.
Liaise with schools, parents, local authorities, and external agencies where required.
Maintain accurate and confidential safeguarding records.

Compliance & Administration

Ensure compliance with safeguarding, health and safety, food hygiene, and childcare regulations.
Complete risk assessments and incident reporting.
Maintain attendance registers and relevant documentation.
Support communication with parents and carers.
Assist with audits, inspections, and quality assurance processes.

Essential Requirements

Hold a full and relevant Level 3 qualification in Childcare, Playwork, Early Years, Education, or a related field.
Hold Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) training or be willing to undertake training before commencing the role.
Previous experience working within a childcare, wraparound care, or educational setting.
Experience leading or supervising staff.
Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills.
Ability to work independently and make informed decisions.
Commitment to delivering outstanding care and safeguarding practices.
Hold a current Enhanced DBS Certificate registered with the Update Service, or be willing to obtain one.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

Paediatric First Aid qualification.
Food Hygiene Certificate.
Experience managing breakfast clubs, afterschool clubs, holiday clubs, or similar childcare provision.
Experience working with children with SEND.
Knowledge of Ofsted requirements and safeguarding legislation.
