Keynvor MorLift Ltd (KML) is seeking an experienced Lift Supervisor – Lifting Operations to support our marine, heavy-lift and civil engineering operations across the UK.
KML delivers specialist marine construction, heavy-lift, subsea and offshore projects using a range of vessels, barges, pontoons, cranes and specialist marine plant.
We are looking for a competent and experienced lifting professional who can take responsibility for the safe supervision and execution of lifting operations, ensuring that lifts are carried out in accordance with the approved lift plan, risk assessment, method statement, KML procedures and applicable site requirements.
This is a practical, operational role. The successful candidate must be comfortable working within marine and construction environments and deploying aboard vessels, barges, pontoons and other marine assets where required.
Key Responsibilities
As Lift Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising lifting operations on site, including:
- Taking responsibility for the supervision and safe execution of lifting operations under your control.
- Ensuring lifting operations are carried out in accordance with the approved lift plan, risk assessment, method statement and instructions provided by the Appointed Person.
- Reviewing and understanding lift plans prior to commencement of lifting activities.
- Conducting pre-lift briefings and toolbox talks with Crane Operators, Slinger/Signallers and other personnel involved in the lifting operation.
- Ensuring all personnel involved in lifting operations understand their roles, responsibilities, communication arrangements and required control measures.
- Confirming that the correct crane, lifting accessories and equipment identified within the lift plan are available and being used.
- Checking that lifting accessories are correctly identified, suitable for the intended lift and have appropriate certification and inspection status.
- Confirming that loads are correctly prepared, rigged and connected prior to lifting.
- Ensuring exclusion zones and lifting areas are established and maintained throughout the operation.
- Controlling access to lifting areas and ensuring personnel remain clear of suspended loads and identified danger zones.
- Ensuring effective communication is maintained between the Crane Operator, Slinger/Signallers and other personnel involved in the lift.
- Monitoring environmental and operational conditions, including wind, weather, visibility, sea state, vessel movement and other limitations identified within the lift plan.
- Ensuring lifting operations are stopped where conditions exceed the limitations specified within the lift plan or where the operation can no longer be undertaken safely.
- Confirming that crane configuration, lifting radius and operational setup correspond with the approved lift plan.
- Monitoring lifting operations to ensure the planned lifting sequence is followed.
- Supervising complex, tandem and multi-crane lifting operations where appropriately qualified, experienced and specifically appointed to do so.
- Liaising with the Appointed Person where changes to the planned lifting operation become necessary.
- Ensuring that lifting operations are not materially changed or deviated from without appropriate review and authorisation by the Appointed Person.
- Liaising with Crane Operators, Slinger/Signallers, Vessel Masters, engineers, project teams and other relevant personnel.
- Ensuring lifting operations are appropriately suspended where unsafe conditions, equipment defects or deviations from the lift plan are identified.
- Reporting lifting equipment defects, incidents, near misses and unsafe conditions in accordance with KML procedures.
- Supporting site teams in maintaining high standards of lifting safety and operational discipline.
- Providing practical feedback to the Appointed Person and project teams regarding lifting arrangements and operational considerations.
- Supporting the continuous improvement of KML's lifting procedures and standards.
Essential Qualifications & Competence
Applicants must be able to demonstrate:
- Current CPCS A62 Crane/Lifting Operations Supervisor (Blue Card) or recognised equivalent.
- Minimum 3 years' practical experience in lifting operations, preferably within heavy construction, marine or infrastructure environments.
- Demonstrable experience supervising lifting operations.
- Strong practical knowledge of lifting operations and safe systems of work.
- Good working knowledge of LOLER, PUWER and relevant requirements of BS 7121.
- Ability to understand and implement lift plans, risk assessments and method statements.
- Good understanding of crane configurations, lifting radii, capacities and operational limitations.
- Good knowledge of lifting accessories, including identification, capacities, markings, inspection and certification requirements.
- Ability to identify hazards associated with lifting operations and ensure appropriate control measures are implemented.
- Ability to effectively supervise Crane Operators, Slinger/Signallers and other personnel involved in lifting operations.
- Ability and confidence to stop a lifting operation where unsafe conditions or deviations from the approved lift plan are identified.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to work effectively with operational personnel, project teams, vessel crews and clients.
Marine / Offshore Certification
As the role may require deployment aboard KML vessels and marine assets, applicants should hold appropriate current marine/offshore certification, including:
- STCW Basic Safety Training appropriate to the role.
- Valid ENG1 Seafarer Medical Certificate or accepted equivalent.
For offshore projects, the following would also be advantageous:
- Current OPITO BOSIET / FOET, including CA-EBS where applicable.
- Current OEUK Offshore Medical or equivalent accepted offshore medical certification.

Highly Desirable Experience
We would be particularly interested in candidates with experience in:
- Marine construction.
- Offshore and subsea operations.
- Heavy and complex lifting.
- Crane operations from vessels, barges and pontoons.
- Mobile and crawler cranes.
- Vessel-mounted cranes.
- Tandem and multi-crane lifting.
- Lifting operations involving marine plant and specialist equipment.
- Barge and pontoon operations.
- Working around vessel stability and deck-loading limitations associated with lifting operations.
- Major civil engineering and infrastructure projects.
- Nuclear or other highly regulated environments.
- NNB / Hinkley Point lifting requirements and standards.
Previous experience supervising lifting operations within marine construction, heavy-lift or major infrastructure projects would be particularly advantageous.
What We Are Looking For
We are looking for more than an individual who simply holds an A62 qualification.
The successful candidate will be an experienced lifting professional capable of taking an approved lifting operation and ensuring it is implemented safely and correctly in the operational environment.
You will need to be confident supervising lifting teams, challenging unsafe practices and stopping an operation where necessary.
You must be comfortable working alongside Appointed Persons, Crane Operators, Slinger/Signallers, Vessel Masters, project managers, engineers and site teams and be capable of communicating lifting arrangements clearly to everyone involved.
The ability to work within both marine and major infrastructure environments will be a significant advantage.
Engagement
This position is initially offered on a freelance/self-employed project basis, with work available across KML's UK operations.
The successful candidate will be required to travel to project sites and KML vessels as operational requirements dictate.
Travel and other project-related arrangements will be discussed as part of the engagement.
