Job Description Summary:

Assessment and Technical Officer - Grade 7 - Pro Rata Salary £19,822 - £21,534

This is a Part Time, Permanent Position for 22.5 hours.

IPASS (Integrated Partnership of Additional Support Services) is a Hull City Council service that support children and young people with vision, hearing , physical and language difficulties.

We are recruiting a Technical and Assessment Officer who will assess children and young people’s access to assistive technology and be responsible for delivering training in the use of specialist hardware and software.

ROLE AND PURPOSE

The Assessment and Technical Officer will provide training and advice to service users (Children and young people directly), staff internally and in schools and external professionals with regard to the implementation of assessed IT needs. Required to ascertain IT hardware and software solutions, to ensure service users can access the curriculum using technology.

Lead the development and delivery of bespoke training in the use of specialist hardware and software used by children and young people with hearing, vision, and physical difficulties.

To apply specialist knowledge for children with significant medical issues, to use technology that enhances the learning opportunities for them.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1. To promote and safeguard the welfare of children, young people and/or vulnerable adults

2. Customer Focus – Lead the assessment of the ICT needs of the children and young people, producing professional and detailed reports for education professionals and parents.

3. Develop and deliver the bespoke software and hardware training packages for stakeholders, i.e. schools, colleges, IPaSS staff (linked to PGPR targets), Children and young people so they may competently access the equipment. Required to attend the setting, assess for the best solution implement and then quality check to ensure that any training issues are resolved, and that the equipment is addressing the needs of pupils.

4. Lead and guide discussions with stakeholders to discuss the implementation of technology for SEN children and young people to meet their outcomes.

5. Attend and contribute to EHCP meetings, providing details regarding the technology implemented to meet need and how this is ensuring the child or young person can access learning.

6. Evaluate through monitoring and assessing, the success of deployed technology solutions and adjust this when necessary.

7. Provide first line support for service staff regarding issues related to routine IT setup and maintenance.

8. Leads on the development of ICT learning and other developmental initiatives e.g. Identifying learning needs, designing and developing programmes tailored to organisational/service requirements and delivering excellent learning interventions.

9. Leads on the full range of ICT training in service. Responsible for the provision of ICT learning, advice and guidance in support of service strategic priorities.

10. Performance Management – Evaluate new technology and advise IPaSS staff regarding technological advancements to ensure the service is fully abreast of the latest technological developments that may be beneficial for use by service users.

11. Maintain the service asset inventory to ensure accurate locations of service equipment.

Pay Ranges:

£32,597.00 - £35,412.00
