Part- Time Bookkeeper / Finance Administrator

About the role
We are looking for an experienced, organised and dependable bookkeeper/ Finance Administrator to take responsibility for the day to day financial administration of four small businesses based in Oxford.
This is a hands- on and varied position for someone who is confident working independently and enjoys taking ownership of the financial side of the role.
You will work across four separate businesses, ensuring that our accounts, payments, bills and financial records are kept accurate, organised and up to date.
Key responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing and maintaining Xero across multiple businesses
- Day- to - day bookkeeping and bank reconciliations
- Processing and organising supplier invoices
- Preparing and managing supplier payments
- Monitoring money coming into and out going out of the businesses
- Managing direct debits, standing orders and recurring business expenses
- Dealing with business rate and relevant council correspondence
- Managing electricity, utilities, and other business accounts
- Contacting suppliers and resolving billing queries or discrepancies
- Monitoring outstanding invoices and chasing payments where required
- Maintaining accurate records for VAT purposes and assisting with VAT administration
- Liaising with our external accountants and providing information when required
- Identifying unusual charges, duplicate payments or potential errors
- Maintaining well- organised financial records across all four businesses
- Providing the owners with a clear overview of the payments, outstanding items and anything requiring attention
- Taking ownership of financial queries and following them through to resolution
The roles may also invoice other general financial and business administration from time to time.
About You
We are looking for someone who is:
- Experienced in bookkeeping, accounts or a similar SME finance role
- Confident and experienced using Xero
- Comfortable managing finances of multiple businesses at the same time
- Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
- Confident dealing with supplier , utility companies, councils and accountants
- Able to work independently and use their own initiative
- Proactive about supporting and resolving problems rather than waiting to be asked
- Trustworthy and comfortable handling confidential financial information
- Good at keeping track of multiple deadlines and priorities
Experience working within a small or owner managed business would be particularly useful.
AAT qualifications or similar would be welcomed, but practical experience and the ability to confidently manage the role are more important to use than formal qualifications

The right person will be proactive, organised and comfortable working independently. We want someone who will not only identify issues but take responsibility for resolving them — whether that means dealing with a supplier, querying an incorrect utility bill, contacting the council regarding business rates, or following up on an outstanding payment.
This is a varied, long-term position working across four small businesses and would suit an experienced bookkeeper or finance professional looking for a responsible and flexible part-time role.
