Full job description

Based in Watling Street Practice @ Shenley Church End, this is an exciting opportunity for a reliable and friendly receptionist to join our team.

As a Medical Receptionist working in Primary Care, you will be the face of the practice; together with your colleagues you will be supporting our patients, and the clinical teams that care for them.

If you have excellent communication skills and thrive in a fast-paced environment, we’d love to hear from you.

Hours, Salary and Benefits

£12.71 per hour
An excellent NHS pension scheme
A minimum 28 days annual leave (pro-rata’d), plus bank holidays, increasing to 33 days with length of service

Shift Pattern - 27.5 hours per week
Conversations around flexible working and compressed hours are encouraged.

Monday: 12:30pm – 6pm
Tuesday: 12:30pm – 6pm
Wednesday: 8am – 1:30pm
Thursday: 8am – 1:30pm
Friday: 1pm – 6:30pm

Job Summary

As the first point of contact for patients, you will handle enquiries with professionalism and empathy.

You will also be responsible for administrative duties such as appointment scheduling and maintaining patient records.

The role is varied - no two calls are the same - and you will be responsible for making sure patients are dealt with in an efficient and friendly manner.

Your primary place of work will be Watling Street Practice @ Shenley Church End, but you may be expected to work from our Great Holm and Stony Stratford sites from time to time.

Main Responsibilities and Duties

Booking appointments for patients with the appropriate medical professional
Dealing with general enquiries from patients and visitors
Assisting patients to complete new registration forms
Supporting colleagues to maintain an efficient and friendly atmosphere
Assisting with any other administration required

About You

A customer service professional with a kind and courteous manner.
You have high levels of accuracy and understand the importance of getting information correct at all times.
You are resilient in the face of difficult situations, offering support and understanding to our patients.
You will be used to a fast-paced environment with a varied task list and tight deadlines.
You understand the importance of confidentiality and work efficiently with your colleagues to get the job done.

Essential Criteria

Experience working with the public, both face to face and over the telephone

Desirable Criteria

Experience within a healthcare organisation
Experience with SystmOne would be an ideal, however full training will be provided
