Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant/Cook to join our team. This role involves supporting the preparation and cooking of meals in a busy kitchen environment, ensuring high standards of food safety and quality. The ideal candidate will have a passion for culinary arts, experience in food preparation, and a strong commitment to delivering excellent service. This position offers an opportunity to develop culinary skills within a supportive team setting.

Responsibilities

Assist with food preparation, including chopping, peeling, and measuring ingredients
Cook and assemble meals according to specified recipes and standards
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area in compliance with food safety regulations
Ensure all food is stored correctly and labelled appropriately
Support the serving of meals to customers or clients in a timely manner
Follow health and safety procedures at all times to prevent accidents or contamination
Assist with inventory management by checking stock levels and notifying management of shortages
Support other kitchen staff as needed during busy periods or special events

Skills

Experience in food preparation and cooking within a professional kitchen environment
Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices
Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail
Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
Strong communication skills to collaborate with team members and serve customers professionally
Previous restaurant or catering experience is desirable but not essential; willingness to learn is key
Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work schedules as required
