Full job description

“Lifestyle Coordinators" are responsible for getting to know each of our residents individually and provide them with a range of opportunities to engage with the lifestyle opportunities that are meaningful to them personally. The idea is to support residents to have the best quality of life possible and most of all to be happy living in our home every day.

To be a Lifestyle Coordinator you will need to be well organised, creative, and proactive. Like many jobs, no day is the same.

Planning your week

Your main role is to provide activities that benefit the well-being of our residents ensuring we focus on their emotional, intellectual, spiritual, and physical wellbeing. Each Lifestyle Coordinator brings their own ideas to the role and will find their own unique strength. Some people are great at creating quizzes, conducting craft sessions and others excel at stimulating physical exercise through gardening or other outdoor activities. It is important to plan a diverse activity week, our weekly planned program helps Lifestyle Coordinator to construct this.

Using your local knowledge

Behind the scenes, you will be organising events and reach out to the local community to ensure residents don’t lose touch with groups and friends that they enjoyed locally before coming to live in a care home. The phrase ‘it's not what you know it’s who you know’ is fundamental to this job role and having a little notebook with you at times can often be beneficial. Even if you do not know the local area well, you will begin to collect local contacts and resources such as schools, churches, and charities that make your job even more rewarding.

Flexible

Our Lifestyle Coordinators are key to ensuring residents lives are fulfilling every day. They design and implement all the activities; personalising them to ensure each resident is included thinking outside of the box to create new ideas and networking with the local community.

Being a Lifestyle Coordinator is a unique and important role within the care profession. Good communication skills are essential, and you need to be flexible and adapt to what an individual or group of residents may choose to on any day.

You will need to have keen attention to detail, excellent communication skills, be a real team player, adaptable and have ability to turn your hand at just about anything. Most importantly, you will need to be extremely creative and love working with people.
