Salary: £32k Basic + commission, OTE £44k p.a.

AEC is an environmental consultancy offering our clients Environmental compliance services, Asbestos Surveys, Air testing, Project management, Lab services, Fire risk assessments and consultancy, Water Services including Legionella Risk Assessments (LRA’s) and remedial services. We also offer Training services in our purpose-built training suites or online courses, providing accredited courses and qualifications in Water / Asbestos and Occupational Hygiene.
We have been around for 29 years and have organically grown the company into 150 staff across 2 offices, based in Manchester and Essex. AEC is expanding its Essex office; to assist us in that journey, we have an exciting opportunity for someone looking to become a member of our sales / resource team.
This office-based role is within a friendly team based at our offices in Mountnessing, where we have 32 staff working in the office and out on site. Your role will involve phoning our existing customers and taking their orders for asbestos air monitoring work. You will then plan the work onto 1 of the 5 Analysts under your purview. You will be totally responsible for ensuring they have the right amount of work placed on them and understand what our clients want. You will enjoy phoning clients and developing a rapport with them and you will along with your manager look to find new customers, this will be achieved at events we will organise to attract more customers to AEC looking for air monitoring services.
Training will be given in all areas of asbestos air testing, you will as part of your training go out on site and watch what our analysts do, you will learn and understand about the different types of air tests we offer to asbestos removal contractors and all of our clients. You will be introduced to your 5 analysts and you will build a rapport with them. There are asbestos qualifications you will be able to take once you have passed probation. This role is required due to a recent promotion within the team, that staff member will be heavily involved in showing you how to do the job and will introduce you to the current and existing customers who need the services provided by an analyst.
Sales
- Identify, target, and secure new business opportunities, focusing on air testing services offered by AEC.
- Keep AEC’s current customers we supply our Analysts to site to perform air tests, happy and engaged.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with prospective clients, understanding their needs and positioning AEC services effectively
- Maintain weekly communication via phone and email with all prospective customers
- Attend site visits with customers to fortify relationships and sales opportunities
- Contact contractors to secure work for analysts, organize events and create social media posts to expand air testing services across all markets
- Keep abreast of industry trends, competitor activities, and client developments to shape value propositions and strategic initiatives
Resourcing & Scheduling:
- Plan all work for the 5 air analysts, allocated to you.
- Ensure analysts are fully utilised and are achieving their minimum day rates
- Maintain and manage an active pipeline of work
- Work with colleagues across all departments and the technical team to ensure proposals are accurately scoped and client requirements are met
- Review and manage your own budgets and revenue, working to weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual KPI's
- Maintain high client satisfaction scores for all completed work
We’re Looking For Someone Who:
Essential
- Proven track record within a sales role showing multiple methods of communication and winning business
- Excellent phone Conversation skills
- Demonstrable track record of achieving sales targets and KPIs
- Experience managing multiple enquiries, job bookings, quotations, or sales opportunities simultaneously
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Good IT and data management skills, particularly Excel and CRM systems.
- Ability to prioritise tasks, manage pipelines, and organise workloads.
- Strong commercial awareness and decision-making ability.
Desirable
- Experience planning resources or managing scheduling for operational teams
- Experience supporting marketing activity or business development campaigns
- Qualification in Sales, Business, Marketing, or Customer Service
- Understanding of construction sector supply chains and contractors
