Full job description

Senior Barista/Coffee Lead

Barnes, South West London

We’re opening an exciting new speciality coffee shop in a beautiful riverside location in Barnes — and we’re looking for an experienced Senior Barista / Coffee Lead to help make the coffee offering exceptional from day one.

We’re truly independent, ambitious and quality-focused. We care about great coffee, great service and creating a place that people genuinely want to come back to.

Our fit out is happening right now and it’s going to look incredible – a perfect place to watch the tide come in and out and set off on the Thames path with your drink!

The role

We’re looking for someone with 3+ years’ experience in speciality coffee who is passionate about their craft and wants to take real ownership of the coffee side of the business.

You’ll be hands-on behind the bar, but this is also an opportunity to help shape how we do things — from coffee selection and recipes to standards, training and day-to-day operations.

You’ll be responsible for:

Delivering consistently excellent espresso and filter coffee
Dialling in and maintaining high coffee standards throughout service
Helping select and develop our coffee offering
Creating and documenting recipes, workflows and bar standards
Training and mentoring the wider barista team
Maintaining equipment and ensuring the bar is kept to an exceptional standard
Working closely with the owners to develop the coffee programme
Helping create a warm, knowledgeable and genuinely welcoming customer experience
Bringing ideas and energy to an ambitious new independent business

Who we’re looking for

You’ll ideally have:

3+ years’ experience working in speciality coffee
Strong espresso and milk/latte art skills
Excellent knowledge of coffee and a genuine interest in the speciality coffee industry
Experience dialling in and maintaining consistency during busy service
The confidence and communication skills to train and support other baristas
High standards and excellent attention to detail
A warm, personable approach with customers
A proactive, hands-on attitude
The ambition to help build something from the ground up

Most importantly, we’re looking for someone who really cares about coffee and hospitality — someone who notices the details, takes pride in their work and wants to be part of creating something special.

You’ll have a high degree of responsibility, a voice in how we develop the coffee offering, and the opportunity to work in one of London’s most beautiful neighbourhoods, right on the river in Barnes.
