Full job description

Here at Charisma, we’re shaping the future of interactive entertainment, where players can have conversations with the characters using AI.

Now we’re searching for a passionate full-stack engineer to join our growing team, who can bring their strong technical experience building web platforms to expand Charisma’s capabilities.

To give you a flavour of where Charisma is currently being used, our previous and current partners include the likes of Warner Bros, Sky, NBC Universal and numerous games studios around the world.

This role is very much hands-on, diving deep into codebases to create new features or improve existing code.

Your quest might include...

Being responsible for implementing new features in Charisma

Refining requirements with the team, developing, testing and releasing

Identifying and suggesting resolutions for technical debt.

Driving the use of new technologies and practices into the team, including integrating new generative technology

Communicating updates to core Charisma tech clearly to relevant stakeholders

We’d love you to...

Have strong technical experience with TypeScript, React, Node.js and Next.js

Be familiar with GraphQL, Postgres, Redis

Be familiar with using testing frameworks like Jest and Cypress

Be familiar with CI, DevOps, tooling and hosting with cloud services (such as AWS, Docker, Pulumi, Heroku)

Be delivery oriented, giving the team confidence to ship often with confidence

Be confident in expanding feature requirements and gathering feedback on new features

Experienced in building and architecting web platforms, with a good knowledge of common patterns/tech like databases, storage, serverful/serverless, and able to weigh up pros and cons

Find fun new ways to showcase how AI can support creativity

Equally passionate about digital humans, the metaverse, and conversational tech

An interest in Unity, Unreal, open-source, and Unix would be very useful
