About the Role

Giorgio & Gio Italian Restaurant are seeking an experienced and passionate Pizza Chef / Pizzaiolo to join our

kitchen team.

We are looking for someone who takes pride in producing high-quality Italian pizzas, has a strong understanding of

dough preparation and can work confidently in a busy restaurant environment.

The ideal candidate will be reliable, organised and passionate about Italian food, with a strong focus on quality,

consistency and presentation. You will work closely with our Head Chef, Sous Chef and wider kitchen team to

maintain the high standards our customers expect from Giorgio & Gio.

Job Purpose

The Pizza Chef is responsible for preparing, cooking and presenting high-quality Italian pizzas to a consistent

standard. The role includes dough preparation, ingredient preparation, managing the pizza section during service,

maintaining excellent food hygiene standards and working closely with the rest of the kitchen team.

Main Responsibilities

Prepare and cook high-quality Italian pizzas to Giorgio & Gio standards.
Prepare pizza dough according to restaurant recipes and specifications.
Manage dough proving, portioning, balling and storage correctly.
Stretch and shape pizza dough consistently by hand.
Prepare sauces, cheeses, meats, vegetables and other pizza toppings.
Ensure ingredients are fresh, correctly prepared and ready before service.
Follow recipes and portion specifications to maintain consistency.
Operate and maintain the pizza oven safely and effectively.
Monitor oven temperatures and cooking times throughout service.
Ensure pizzas are cooked and presented to the correct standard.
Organise and maintain the pizza section before, during and after service.
Complete all necessary preparation before each service.
Work quickly and efficiently during busy periods without compromising quality.
Communicate effectively with the Head Chef, Sous Chef and kitchen team.
Coordinate with other kitchen sections so meals are served together and on time.
Assist with menu development, new pizzas and seasonal specials when required.
Monitor ingredient and stock levels and report ordering requirements.
Follow FIFO stock rotation procedures and help minimise food waste.
Maintain a clean, organised and professional workstation throughout the shift.

Food Safety & Allergens

Follow all food hygiene and HACCP procedures.
Prevent cross-contamination and follow the restaurant's allergen procedures.
Understand allergens contained within pizza dough, sauces, cheeses and toppings.
Take particular care with customer allergies and dietary requirements.
Ensure food is correctly labelled, dated and stored.
Complete temperature checks and food safety records where required.
Maintain excellent personal hygiene and keep the pizza area, equipment and oven area clean and safe.

Stock & Waste Control

Use correct portion sizes and avoid unnecessary food waste.
Rotate ingredients correctly and report damaged, spoiled or wasted stock.
Monitor pizza ingredients and dough levels.
Prepare appropriate quantities based on expected business levels.
Assist with kitchen stocktakes when required.

Skills & Experience

Previous experience as a Pizza Chef, Pizzaiolo or in a similar professional kitchen role.
Experience preparing pizza dough from scratch, including fermentation and proving.
Confidence stretching and shaping pizza dough by hand.
Experience using a professional pizza oven.
Good knowledge of Italian ingredients and pizza preparation.
Strong food hygiene and allergen awareness.
Good organisation, time-management, communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to work efficiently under pressure with strong attention to detail.
A reliable and professional attitude and a passion for producing high-quality food.

Maintain a clean, professional appearance and correct kitchen uniform.
Keep the pizza section clean, organised and fully prepared.
Produce consistently high-quality pizzas and follow Giorgio & Gio recipes and specifications.
Treat colleagues, customers and suppliers professionally and respectfully.
Follow reasonable instructions from the Head Chef, Sous Chef and management.
Take responsibility for the pizza section and equipment and support the wider kitchen team.

This job description outlines the main responsibilities of the Pizza Chef position but is not exhaustive. Duties may

be reasonably amended depending on the needs of Giorgio & Gio Italian Restaurant. The Pizza Chef is expected

to work closely with the Head Chef, Sous Chef, kitchen team and restaurant management to maintain the high

standards of food and service expected at Giorgio & Gio Italian Restaurant.

Pay: £13.00-£14.50 per hour
