Inclusion & Community Events Coordinator
Work from home but Cambridge based with some local travel.
Contract Type: Permanent
Hours: Part time, 25 hours per week. We can be very flexible on working days/hours and this is a working-from-home position, but attendance at events is important – events approx 10 hours per month and mainly evenings.
Salary: £28,000 - £30,000 full time equivalent (£18,666 - £20,000 part time equivalent), dependant on experience.
Must have: Confident driver with vehicle access and a clean licence
About us:
Safe Soulmates is a not-for-profit community interest company. We provide services to our community of neurodivergent and disabled people who enjoy socialising and getting to know others in person and online. We run approximately 10 social groups a month throughout Cambridgeshire and extra smaller groups for those who are more anxious, as well as 5 socials a week online. Events may include: pub visits, going to gigs, karaoke, bowling, cinema, theatre, walks, small group meet ups, theme park, trip to the beach.
Our vision is for every neurodivergent and disabled person to have a voice, a place to belong, to connect and to feel empowered to achieve in whatever way is important to the individual.
Job Summary:
The Inclusion & Community Events Coordinator will plan, promote and deliver a diverse programme of in-person events and liaise with other team members, all working together to reflect the organisation’s mission to provide safe, inclusive spaces where neurodivergent and disabled adults can connect, build friendships, and explore new opportunities. The post-holder will ensure all events are accessible, inclusive and well-organised, working closely with our community members, our Funding and Events Officer, volunteers and external partners.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Working with our Funding and Events Officer and soulmate members/volunteers to plan and execute regular Soulmate events in a wide variety of settings.
- Plan every detail of an event including members of the organisation and volunteers. Organise travel logistics and community/venue communication.
- Organise the launch of new event programmes. Come up with original concepts – we want you to get creative!
- Communicate with community/event partners/community leads, participants and team members effectively and confidently.
- Confidently solicit and sort through Soulmate feedback and ideas for future events, tactfully balancing need with funding reality.
- Where possible, work closely with members to identify and develop their strengths, skills and interests. This may include supporting members to take on meaningful roles, such as using their creative talents to design posters for events, helping to build confidence, develop skills and encourage greater participation within the community.
- Managing the Schedule of Events, ensuring it is always up to date.
- Approach relevant host venues to negotiate attractive pricing for events. Develop and maintain relationships with host venues.
- Promote the safeguarding and welfare of all Soulmates within our community, raising any concerns in accordance with our protocols and procedures.
- Attend planned events to help facilitate and ensure a smooth execution. This will be approx 10 hours per month and mostly in the evenings.
- Overseeing post-event activities, such as gathering up Safe Soulmate resources, ensuring safe onward travel, and the payment of event hosts.
- Co-ordinating the collection of evidence of impact for funders, social media and impact reporting.
- Manage and distribute our community newsletter.
- Any other duties commensurate with the post for example creating social media or liasing with social media volunteer..

- Great communication skills.
- Ability to adapt to the demands of a busy working environment, moving between different projects
- Ability to work within a set budget.
- Ability to work with a range of external stakeholders and colleagues while responding flexibly to different neurodivergent experiences, communication styles and support needs.
- Can demonstrate a commitment to inclusive practices, can understand and respect the principles of inclusion.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Proficient in the use of IT systems.
- Experience working with working with adults with care and support needs is an advantage but not essential.
- Believes in people's strengths and potential, supporting individuals to live good lives, build independence, stay safe, and be active members of their communities.
