About us
Ganes Academy is a premium tutoring brand in London specialising in GCSE and A-Level Mathematics and Science, founded by Dr Lavan Ganeshkumar (PhD, UCL). We're scaling content output for TRAYNA, our learning app: 20-30 (2-3 min video) deliverables per week across in-app tutorials, explainers, and worked-example videos. The system is built. The pipeline, the aesthetic, the asset libraries, and the AI tooling are all in place. We need people who plug in fast and deliver at pace, working alongside our production lead.
The work
Dr Lavan records teaching footage that becomes the source for everything. You'll produce short, premium-feeling in-app explainers combining talking-head footage with animated scientific graphics:
- Animating scientific objects: atoms, molecules, orbital diagrams, biological cycles, chemistry apparatus, physics setups, mathematical visualisations
- 3D scientific graphics in Blender, modelled, shaded, and rendered to brand
- Compositing 3D graphics over presenter footage using camera-tracked workflows in After Effects, so graphics exist in the same space as Dr Lavan
- Generating SVG assets via AI (Claude for parametric diagrams; Firefly/Recraft for stylised illustrations), refined in Illustrator to match brand
- Final edit in Premiere Pro: talking-head, animation, screen recording, audio (Adobe Enhance)
You don't invent the aesthetic. It's defined, with shared libraries, brand tokens, and reference edits. You execute it consistently, at speed.
Where this role goes
The summer sprint is the entry point, not the whole job. From autumn we move into the next production cycles (Year 13 content from November, GCSE content from January) and we're launching a YouTube channel alongside the app: punchy 5-10 minute cuts of the teaching content, thumbnails, and short-form vertical clips for Shorts and TikTok. Strong performers on the sprint are first in line for that ongoing work, including channel-focused roles as distribution grows through 2027. If you want long-running production work with one brand rather than a one-off gig, this is built for it.
The AI workflow
We're AI-forward as standard, not experiment:
- Claude: first-pass SVG generation for parametric scientific diagrams; content-accuracy checks on scripts and on-screen text
- Claude + Blender (MCP): our pipeline drives Blender programmatically via Claude for parametric 3D scene setup. You don't need prior MCP experience; we'll onboard you. You DO need enough Blender fluency to direct, refine, and finish what it produces.
- Adobe Firefly / Recraft: stylised vector generation where geometric output isn't the right look
- CodeCogs: LaTeX-rendered equation SVGs
- Adobe Enhance Speech / Descript: audio cleanup, transcript-based editing, captions
The role is orchestrating these tools to produce assets fast and finishing them with craft in AE, Illustrator, Blender, and Premiere. All titles and captions run through templates and transcript workflows; nothing is typed frame-by-frame by hand. If you don't use AI tools in your workflow, or prefer manual-first craft, this isn't the right role and the paid task will show it.
Pace matters as much as craft
Benchmark: a finished explainer in around 2 hours. This is a production line, not a boutique studio. If your instinct is a full day perfecting one video, this isn't the fit. We iterate and improve across volume.
Required
- Demonstrable motion design in After Effects, portfolio essential (animated illustration, motion graphics, presenter-integration)
- Working fluency in Blender (modelling, materials, lighting, rendering), daily-use or strong recent project work
- Fluent Illustrator and Premiere Pro at daily-use level
- Active AI-tool usage now: LLMs for asset generation, generative image/vector tools, audio tools. You can say which you reach for and when.
- Fast, consistent turnaround: the single most important quality here
- Camera-tracking / 3D-compositing fluency in AE
- Comfortable executing an established aesthetic
- Own workstation capable of AE comp and Blender render work (we provide Adobe CC, Claude, and AI tool subscriptions, provisioned on passing the task)
- Low management overhead: take a brief, run with it
Nice to have
- Blender Python/scripting experience (predicts comfort with our Claude-MCP pipeline)
- Cavalry or Cinema 4D for procedural work; Plexus for molecular visualisations
- Maths/science background or genuine comfort with the subject matter
- Shared-pipeline / production-team experience
- Short-form vertical editing (Shorts/TikTok) and thumbnail design, given the YouTube work above
Not the right role if
- You don't use AI tools, or aren't happy to learn ours
- You're a generalist editor without strong motion design skills
- You work slowly or need significant direction per project
- You want to shape the visual identity (we have a creative lead) or want long polish time per video
Application process
- Portfolio plus short note: an AI tool you've integrated in the last six months. What it improved, its limitations, and one thing you decided AI was the wrong tool for. Specific answers only.
- Paid practical task (capped at 2 hours, paid at £15/hr): from our raw footage, screen recording, and two reference edits, produce one worked-solution edit (30-45 second video) and one short animated explainer (30-45 second video). Document the AI tools used at each stage and flag any content errors you spot. We're testing pace-under-constraint as much as craft, so submit what you have at the cap, even unfinished.
- Final interview with Dr Lavan and our production lead: fit, workflow, scheduling. Offers within 48 hours.
Pay: £15.00 per hour
