Employer : Horizon Cremation (Cannock) Limited

Location : Cannock Chase Crematorium, Norton Road, Heath Hayes, Cannock, Staffordshire, WS12 3HJ

Job type: Full-time, permanent

Starting Salary : £25,500- £28,000 dependent on experience plus overtime, site performance bonus, health care scheme and pension scheme.

Hours : 37.5 hours, working flexibly, 5 days per week which may include weekends, evenings and early mornings when required.

25 days holiday plus bank holidays, uniform and PPE provided.

Crematorium Assistant

Be part of a small but very successful team that manages Cannock Chase Crematorium, supporting bereaved families in Cannock and the surrounding area. Cannock Chase Crematorium opened in April 2021 with a stylish ceremony hall set in 12 acres of grasslands and woodlands including tranquil memorial gardens.

Would you like to make a difference to the funeral experience of bereaved people? Would you like to be part of a hardworking, busy, cohesive team? Would you like to have a wide variety of activities in your working day?

You might not have considered a career in the funeral industry but, if you have the transferable skills we are looking for, full industry training will be provided.

Every day is different, and this role requires flexibility. We are a small team, and we need every member to be ready to cover every role within the business to ensure families get the best possible experience when they use our service.

The tasks you will be involved with include:

Cremation – You will be fully trained and work towards an accredited ICCM qualification under supervision and guidance from experienced colleagues. You will be involved in the end-to-end cremation process and ashes management. You will need to be able bodied as there will be manual handling involved in this process. Uniform and PPE will be provided for your safety.

Administration - Answering the telephone and responding to emails with great customer service skills. Using Word, Excel and an industry database programme to complete the necessary funeral paperwork. Helping families and funeral directors with queries, planning services, music and visual tribute arrangements and collection of ashes. Showing families around the gardens to view memorial options.

Ad hoc work – for example getting involved in evening memorial services and tours, overseeing the placement and maintenance of memorials for families, and making sure the site is tidy and presentable.

To be successful in this role you will

· Demonstrate a willingness to carry out any role which is needed for the successful delivery of funeral services and memorial development.

· Show empathy and compassion.

· Show professionalism and integrity in all your interactions.

· Have a comfortable and easy style of communicating.

· Have strong organisational skills and attention to detail.

· Have the ability to follow detailed procedures.

· Demonstrate a good level of IT skills and be comfortable with Word, Excel and emails.

· Be self-motivated and able to organise your own work unsupervised.

· Show initiative if any stakeholder needs support, even if it is outside your job role.

· Take pleasure and pride in delivering excellent customer service, and a desire to go the extra mile.

· Have a flexible ‘can do’ approach and be willing to learn whatever skills are required to make our team successful.

· Have a desire to build strong working relationships with all team members.

· Be flexible in your approach to working hours.

· Have a strong level of resilience, both emotionally and physically.
