Working Site Foreman — Commercial Fit-Out (Days & Nights) Mirmac Interiors · Warrington, site-based UK-wide £42,000 – £50,000 depending on experience, plus van, allowances and bonus. Realistic OTE £53,000 – £58,000.
About the role
We are a family-run commercial fit-out and refurbishment contractor based in Warrington, working across the North West and nationally. We have grown quickly and we are now building the team that keeps that growth steady. This is a new role, reporting to our Contracts Manager.
You will run our sites day to day — and you will still be on the tools. Roughly half your time is spent supervising, coordinating and reporting; the other half is spent doing the work, particularly second-fix joinery.
The work comes in two shapes, and you will do both:
- Full fit-outs. Two weeks to six months, multiple trades on site, phased handover, formal progress reporting.
- Overnight capital and planned maintenance works. A single shift, usually 22:00 to 06:00, delivering a fixed scope in a trading unit that has to open on time the next morning.
They are different jobs. One needs a programme you can hold for months; the other needs someone who stays calm at four in the morning when something has not gone to plan. We are looking for the person who can switch between the two.
What you will be doing
- Running the site day to day — labour, subcontractors, materials, plant and sequence
- Acting as our competent person on site under CDM 2015, writing and issuing RAMS, delivering inductions and daily briefings, and operating the permit regime
- Building and holding the two-week look-ahead, and flagging slippage early with a solution attached
- Setting the quality standard from day one and driving the snag list to zero before handover
- Spotting variations and additional works before they are done, and recording them properly
- Keeping a factual daily diary, submitting daily reports with photographs, and returning a complete close-out pack
- Being the face of Mirmac in front of store managers, facilities teams and main contractors
- Working on the tools alongside the crew
What you need — essential
- CSCS Gold Supervisory card (or achievable within 6 months — we will fund the NVQ)
- SMSTS (SSSTS considered, with SMSTS completed within 12 months at our cost)
- First Aid at Work (3-day), Asbestos Awareness, Fire Marshal, Manual Handling, Abrasive Wheels, Working at Height, PASMA
- At least 5 years in commercial fit-out, refurbishment or shopfitting, including 2 years supervising
- Experience working in live, occupied or trading premises
- Experience of night or out-of-hours work with a fixed reopening time
- A trade background with the tools still in hand — joinery preferred
- Confident reading drawings, setting out, and working from a tablet for reports and photos
- Full UK driving licence, maximum 6 points
Nice to have
NVQ Level 4 Construction Site Supervision · IPAF 3a/3b · Temporary Works Supervisor or Coordinator · IOSH Managing Safely or NEBOSH Construction · Basic Scaffold Inspection · Level 2 Food Safety (Catering)
Being straight with you about the hours
Day-shift projects run around 07:30 to 17:00, 45 hours a week. On top of that, expect somewhere between 40 and 70 night shifts a year, planned in advance and rostered in blocks — never sprung on you. You will average one to two nights away from home a week across the year, with accommodation and meals booked and paid for by us. There is a shared on-call rota, paid separately.
We would rather tell you this now than have you find out in month four. If the nights are a problem, this is not the job. If you are good at them, you are exactly who we are looking for.
What we offer
- £42,000 – £50,000 base, depending on experience, reviewed annually
- Night shift allowance, weekend allowance and away-from-home allowance, paid on top of salary
- Project completion bonus on every job, annual performance bonus, and company profit share
- Company van, fuel card, power tools, tablet and mobile
- Company pension and company sick pay
- 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, rising with service
- Every card, ticket and renewal paid for, plus a funded training plan agreed at your first review
- A genuine route to Site Manager and Contracts Manager — we promote from within wherever we can
Why Mirmac
The work varies — a workplace fit-out one month, a run of overnight retail jobs the next. And we are small enough that the Managing Director knows the site team by name and takes the call himself.
How to apply
