Waking Night Support Worker
Children's Residential Homes (Ofsted Registered)

Locations: Cheshunt (EN7) & Tottenham (N17)
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Salary: £28,000 - £29,000 per annum
Shift Pattern: 10:30pm - 10:30am (Average of 3 waking night shifts per week)

We're looking for a dedicated Waking Night Support Worker to join our teams in Cheshunt and Tottenham. During the night, your role will be vital in providing reassurance, safety and consistency, ensuring every young person feels secure, supported and cared for throughout the night.

About the Role

As a Waking Night Support Worker, you'll play a vital role in maintaining a safe, calm and nurturing environment throughout the night. You'll provide reassurance to young people whenever needed, respond professionally to incidents and help ensure the home remains secure while maintaining the highest standards of care.

Working closely with the wider team, you'll help provide continuity of care by delivering thorough handovers and contributing to positive outcomes for every child in our care.

Your Responsibilities

Conduct regular welfare checks and monitor the safety and wellbeing of young people throughout the night.
Provide emotional support, reassurance and guidance whenever required.
Respond professionally to incidents using therapeutic and trauma-informed approaches.
Follow safeguarding procedures, behaviour support plans and individual risk assessments.
Complete accurate overnight records, incident reports and documentation in line with Ofsted requirements.
Carry out light household duties to ensure the home remains clean, safe and welcoming.
Support young people with morning routines where appropriate.
Deliver comprehensive handovers to the day staff team.
Participate in training, supervision and team meetings to support your ongoing development.

About You

We're looking for someone who is dependable, observant, resilient and genuinely passionate about supporting children and young people.

You'll have:

Experience working with children or young people, ideally within residential childcare or a similar setting.
The ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.
Strong communication, observation and record-keeping skills.
A good understanding of safeguarding, confidentiality and professional boundaries.
A genuine commitment to delivering high-quality care and achieving positive outcomes for young people.
A Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or a willingness to work towards achieving it) is desirable.
A full UK driving licence is desirable.
