Senior Gardener – Private Cotswold Estate

£30,000–£40,000 per annum, depending on experience

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and enthusiastic Senior Gardener to join the gardens team at Williamstrip Park, a beautiful private country estate in the heart of the Cotswolds.
We are looking for someone with a genuine passion for horticulture who takes pride in working to a high standard and would enjoy becoming an important part of a small, friendly and established estate team.
Working closely alongside the Head Gardener, you will help care for, develop and enhance the gardens throughout the seasons, with the opportunity to use your horticultural knowledge and contribute ideas to their ongoing development.
The role
Your work will be varied and will include:
- Caring for herbaceous borders, beds and established planting
- Pruning, planting and seasonal horticultural work
- Hedge cutting and topiary
- Lawn care and presentation
- Plant identification and plant health
- Weed, pest and disease management
- Propagation and general horticultural work
- Operating and maintaining garden machinery
- Assisting with new planting schemes and garden improvements
- Helping maintain the gardens to the high standards expected of a private country estate
About you
We would love to hear from someone who:
- Has strong practical horticultural experience
- Has good plant knowledge and a genuine interest in horticulture
- Takes pride in producing beautifully presented gardens
- Is confident working independently and as part of a team
- Is reliable, organised and proactive
- Has experience using professional garden machinery
- Enjoys working outdoors throughout the seasons
Previous experience within a private estate, large garden or similarly high-standard horticultural environment would be particularly welcome.
Formal horticultural qualifications such as RHS Level 2 or above would be advantageous, although practical experience, enthusiasm and plant knowledge are equally important.
A full UK driving licence is preferred.
