British Heart Foundation (BHF) is the UK’s largest independent funder of cardiovascular disease research. We can find better ways to prevent, treat and cure conditions that rob so many of us of our loved ones. But we can’t do it alone.

By volunteering for us, you are helping us fund lifesaving research to unlock treatments that could give someone a longer, healthier life. From babies born with a heart condition to people recovering from a devastating heart attack, you can help us give people more time with the ones they love.

What will I be doing?

Tasks will vary but may include:

Organising and administering volunteer certificates
Reviewing references submitted for volunteers and contacting referees
Drafting and issuing reference letters for existing volunteers
Helping to prepare and process volunteer documents and maintaining accurate records
Supporting wider volunteer stewardship activity as required

How much time do BHF need?

We are looking for a volunteer who would be able to volunteer regularly for approximately six hours a week from September. We can be flexible with timings and days so this will be discussed at the informal interview for this position.

Where is the volunteering?

BHF Birmingham Office, Compton House, 2300 The Crescent, Birmingham Business Park, Birmingham, UK, B37 7YE. Parking is available on site.

What skills and experience do I need?

You don’t need previous experience for this role, as full training and support will be provided. This role would suit someone who is organised, reliable, has good communication skills and attention to detail. You will need to be comfortable completing administrative tasks, using the telephone and Microsoft.

What training and support will I get?

All volunteers will complete training on MyVolunteer before volunteering to ensure you are confident and happy in your role. During your volunteering you will be supported by a BHF member of staff and/or an experienced BHF volunteer who will provide you with the resources and support you need.

What will I get out of volunteering?

Whether you can give a few hours or full days, you will make an impact as your time helps fund vital research and supports those affected by heart disease. Volunteering is a great way to meet new people, learn new skills and have some fun whilst making a lifesaving difference.
