We have an exciting opportunity for a Mental Health Support Worker to join team at HMP Whatton, a category C men's prison located in in the village of Whatton, near Bingham in Nottinghamshire.

Hours
The site currently offers 37.5 hours per week
Monday - Friday: core office hours

Salary
This position is full time, you’ll receive an annual salary up to £29,723 per annum

What you'll be doing

As a Mental Health Support Worker your responsibilities will vary. You will:

Assist the mental health team in the delivery of immediate and, where appropriate, ongoing care for patients referred to the mental health team.
Contribute to the positive and aspirational workings of the integrated mental health care team, ensuring that each and every patient is treated with care, respect and dignity.
Provide evidence based interventions within the Practice Plus Group health care wellbeing model
Share a good working knowledge of talking therapies and comply with the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act, maintaining a safe working environment for both staff and patients.
Have opportunities to dual run group sessions with the nurses to gain valuable experience.

Qualifications, skills and experience required:

Willingness to undertake training in mental health awareness, suicide, self harm and ACCT procedures as well as health promotion and screening.
Previous experience as a mental health support worker - desired
Good interpersonal skills
Good oral and written communication skills
Able to build constructive relationships with warmth and empathy, using good communication skills.
