Full job description

We are seeking a caring, patient, and reliable Personal Assistant to support children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) during their daily travel. Your main responsibility will be to ensure the safety, comfort, and well-being of the children as they travel from home to school in the morning, and back home in the afternoon.

This is a rewarding, term-time only role that is ideal for anyone looking for part-time hours that align with the school calendar.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Accompanying SEN children safely from their homes to school in the morning, and returning them home in the afternoon.
Assisting children with boarding and exiting the vehicle safely.
Ensuring all safety harnesses, seatbelts, or wheelchair restraints are secure before travel.
Providing a calm, supportive, and reassuring presence during the journey to help ease any anxiety.
Managing any behavioral or physical needs that may arise during transit.
Communicating effectively and professionally with parents, school staff, and the transport driver.

SCHEDULE:

Monday to Friday, term-time only (no weekend or school holiday work required).
Split-shift schedule: Approximately 2 hours in the morning (e.g., 7:30 AM to 9:30 AM) and 2 hours in the afternoon (e.g., 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM). exact times will depend on the school route.

REQUIREMENTS:

A warm, empathetic, and patient personality.
Strong communication skills and the ability to build trust with children.
Outstanding reliability, punctuality, and a strong sense of responsibility.
An enhanced DBS check is required for this role (we can assist with this process if you do not already have one on the update service).
Previous experience working with SEN children or in a caring/supportive role is highly desirable but not essential as training can be provided.
