Join Our Team as a Mental Health Recovery Worker
Location: Hawkesbury Lodge Residential Service, Coventry
Role: Full-time, 35 hours per week
Work Pattern: Monday to Friday - 9am-5pm

Our Hawkesbury Lodge Service represents an important investment in supporting people across Coventry and Warwickshire on their recovery journey. Developed in partnership with Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust, the service combines a 14-bed residential rehabilitation service with an integrated Care Hub, providing a welcoming and recovery-focused environment. Together, these services offer personalised support to people living with severe and enduring mental illness, helping them build confidence, develop greater independence, enhance their wellbeing, and take positive steps towards living successfully within their local communities.

How you will make a difference as a Mental Health Recovery Worker:
As a Mental Health Recovery Worker at Hawkesbury Lodge Care Hub, I support people on their recovery journey by delivering engaging one-to-one and group activities that promote wellbeing, confidence, and independence. Working closely with colleagues, multidisciplinary teams, and partner agencies, I help individuals develop daily living skills, build social connections, and achieve their personal goals in a supportive, recovery-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities:
Recovery & Support

Deliver one-to-one and group recovery-focused interventions.
Support wellbeing, independence, social inclusion, and personal goal achievement.
Build positive, professional relationships with service users.

Care Planning & Key Working

Complete needs assessments and contribute to care, recovery, and safety plans.
Act as Key Worker, providing ongoing support and advocacy.
Monitor progress and review outcomes with service users and professionals.

Residential & Daily Living Support

Provide support within a 24/7 residential setting, including personal care where required.
Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) and independent living skills.
Encourage community engagement and meaningful activity.

Risk & Safeguarding

Identify and escalate risks, concerns, or deterioration in wellbeing.
Support safeguarding and promote a safe environment.
Maintain accurate records, incident reports, and documentation.

Partnership & Teamwork

Work collaboratively with MDTs, external agencies, and community services.
Contribute to Care Hub programme delivery and service development.
Support colleagues, volunteers, and changing service needs through flexible working.

Essential skills and experience:

Experience supporting people with mental illness or in a social care setting
Good listening skills, empathy, understanding, kindness, patience, and a willingness to learn.
Understanding of recovery, rehabilitation and social inclusion approaches.
Ability to support individuals to engage in programmes and activities.
Understanding of recovery-focused practice and positive risk-taking.
Ability to assess needs, implement support plans and respond to risk.
Good communication, teamwork and organisational skills.
Ability to demonstrate behaviours consistent with the Charity's values.
Excellent administration, organisation and planning skills.
Competent in the use of IT systems including Microsoft applications, email and internet.

Desirable skills and experience:

Experience or interest in delivering group work or structured activities.
I have experience of providing personal care including support with eating or drinking/toileting, washing/bathing/dressing/oral care and the care of skin and hair.
I have experience of making a comprehensive assessment of an individual’s situation and needs; to develop, implement and review risk management plans and devise support plans and activities to meet these needs.
I have a strong working knowledge of mental health and appropriate intervention methods and a supporting qualification.
Care Enablement Certificate or willingness to work towards; Level 2/3 in Health and Social Care
Experience working within a community service e.g. employment support, housing, advice etc.
Knowledge of external agencies supporting people with SMI in Coventry and Warwickshire.
