Full job description

My client is looking for an organised, practical and dependable person to join their small team and help coordinate the day-to-day running of their operations.

This is a genuinely varied role combining office-based job coordination with practical yard and logistics support. Some days will be predominantly office based; others may involve organising equipment, loading vehicles or making a delivery or collection.

The main objective is simple: help make sure the jobs, people and equipment are organised and ready when they need to be.

What You'll Be Doing

Coordinating upcoming crane and lifting jobs
Booking cranes, labour and other resources
Liaising with customers, suppliers and site teams
Maintaining the job diary and keeping information up to date
Making sure the right equipment and lifting accessories are available for upcoming work
Organising the yard, crane mats and lifting equipment
Loading and unloading vehicles
Delivering and collecting equipment when required
Helping resolve the everyday operational issues that arise
Providing practical support to the wider operation when needed

You won't be expected to do everything yourself. You'll work closely with the Managing Director and the wider team of lifting professionals, subcontractors and external support.

The Person

We're looking for someone who is equally comfortable organising things on a computer and getting practically involved when required.

Organised and able to manage changing priorities
Confident communicating with customers and suppliers
Practical, hands-on and willing to get involved
Comfortable using computers and learning new systems
Able to work independently and take ownership
Happy working in a small business where no two days are quite the same
Based within reasonable travelling distance of Ripley, Derbyshire

Experience in crane hire, plant hire, transport, haulage, construction, tool/equipment hire or logistics would be useful, but isn't essential.

A full UK driving licence is required.

A CPCS/NPORS Slinger/Signaller qualification would be an advantage but isn't essential. Training could be provided for the right person.

Where the Role Can Lead

Initially you'll work closely with the Managing Director while learning how the business operates and helping further develop their systems and processes.

As your knowledge and confidence grow, we'd like you to take increasing ownership of the day-to-day operation.

For the right person, there is genuine scope for this role to develop into a more senior Operations Coordinator/Operations Management position.

My client is less interested in finding someone who already ticks every box and more interested in finding someone with the right attitude, organisation, practical ability and willingness to take responsibility.
