Role: Finance Officer

Hours: Monday-Friday core hours 9am-5pm (in line with flexi – time policy). Will consider part time opportunities.

Location: £29,241 – £32,110 per annum (full time equivalent based on 40 hours per week and dependant on experience and qualifications).

Halliwell Homes is clinically informed practice encompassing educational, clinical and residential care services. Our objective is to enhance the psychological wellbeing of children within the care system through our Restorative Parenting recovery programme.

The role:

The Finance Officer will be responsible for the provision of support to the Finance and IT Manager and Head of Finance & IT via the completion of a number of tasks, as listed below.

The main responsibilities for the role will include:

To act as first point of contact within the Finance and IT department to all Halliwell employees, taking calls and messages where managers are not available or present.
Provide financial data and reports in a timely manner to assist the Head of Finance.
To report on any variances to the current budget plan.
Raising Sales invoices and ensuring payment via effective credit control.
To provide financial data to enable the production of the organisations accounts within the specified deadlines. This will include all year end and month end processes.
Ensuring payments to third parties i.e. creditors are processed within the allotted timescales.
Support and engage with all payroll processes and changes, payslip submissions and payroll queries for all staff in accordance with statutory and business requirements.
Processing bacs transfers requests.
Scanning, filing, logging and archiving accounts documents.
Supporting with the completion of tax returns, VAT returns, National Insurance and pension contributions.
Processing Employee Expenses in line with the companies agreed timescales for payment.
Operating an effective purchasing function in line with appropriately received requests.
Assisting with maintaining financial control policies and procedures, as well as remaining statutory and sector compliant.
Ensure that all financial systems of Halliwell are kept up to date in order to provide accurate financial information to the appropriate stakeholders as required.
To liaise with Local Authorities and the Companies external Accountants as needed.
Management of Internal Stakeholders to deliver effective and efficient financial systems.
To comply with a documented system of accounting policies and procedures.
To assist with any other ad hoc duties commensurate to the job role and pay scale, as directed by management.

The successful candidate will have the following requirements:

Must hold valid Right To Work in the UK.
Must hold minimum level 2/3 AAT
Ideally hols degree in relevant subject area such as Business Accountancy (or equivalent).
Excellent standard of Maths.
Experience of finance administration within a fast-paced office environment.
Experience and understanding of using accounting software and spreadsheets.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Excellent organisational skills.
Excellent and thorough attention to detail.
Can demonstrate effective problem-solving skills.
