Job Overview

We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Family Assessment Support Workers to join our team at our Mother and Baby Centre. This role involves providing essential support to families, particularly mothers and their infants, through comprehensive assessments and tailored assistance. The successful candidates will play a vital part in promoting positive family outcomes, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of children, and fostering a nurturing environment for both mothers and babies. This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of vulnerable families while developing valuable skills within a supportive organisation.

Responsibilities

Conduct thorough assessments of families to identify their needs, strengths, and areas requiring support
Offer practical guidance and emotional support to mothers and their infants, encouraging healthy development and parenting skills
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop personalised support plans for families
Provide information on available community resources, including health services, childcare, and social support networks
Monitor progress of families over time, adjusting support strategies as necessary
Maintain accurate records of assessments, interventions, and outcomes in accordance with organisational policies
Promote safe practices within the family environment, including child protection procedures when necessary
Attend team meetings and training sessions to continually enhance professional knowledge and skills

Skills

Hold a Level 3 Children and Young People’s Workforce Diploma
Proven experience working with children or within family support services
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships with families from diverse backgrounds
Empathy, patience, and a non-judgemental approach to supporting vulnerable individuals
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases effectively
Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team
Knowledge of child development principles and safeguarding procedures is advantageous
Flexibility to adapt to varying family needs and organisational priorities. This role offers an enriching opportunity for individuals committed to supporting families during critical stages of parenthood.
The position requires a compassionate approach combined with professional integrity, aiming to foster safe, healthy environments for mothers and their babies.

Hours

4 week rolling rota - 7:30am – 3:00pm - 2:30pm – 10:00pm – 9:30pm – 8am

(Your rota will involve working a combination of these shifts)

Pay: From £12.90 per hour
