Full job description

Are you committed to improving outcomes for children and young people? We are seeking an experienced and motivated Deputy Team Manager to join County Durham Youth Justice Service. This is an opportunity to play a key role in supporting staff, leading effective interventions and helping to reduce reoffending.

This position is ideal for someone with experience in youth justice, childrens services or community safety who is ready to develop their leadership career within a supportive and forward-thinking service.

WHAT IS INVOLVED?
County Durham Youth Justice Service is a well-established multi-agency partnership focused on preventing offending and supporting children, young people and their families to make positive changes.

As Deputy Team Manager, you will:

Support the Team Manager in delivering high-quality, effective services
Provide leadership, supervision and line management to staff
Ensure assessments and interventions meet required standards and best practice
Promote strong safeguarding, child protection and public protection arrangements
Support service development, performance monitoring and continuous improvement
Work collaboratively with partner agencies and represent the service at meetings
Contribute to the on-call rota and work flexibly to meet service needs

WHAT WILL I NEED?
You will:

Hold a relevant professional qualification (e.g. Social Work, Youth Work, Education, Policing or similar)
Have significant experience working with children and young people in a related setting
Demonstrate strong leadership, communication and organisational skills
Have experience of case management, risk assessment and delivering interventions
Understand legislation, safeguarding responsibilities and factors influencing offending behaviour
Be able to build effective working relationships and work collaboratively with partners
Be committed to equality, diversity, inclusion and high professional standards

A management qualification, or willingness to achieve one within three years, is required.
