Full job description

Part-Time Payroll Assistant

Location: Clay Cross, Chesterfield
Hours: 15–21 hours per week
Salary: Dependent on experience
Job Type: Part-time, Permanent
Potential to progress to full-time

We are looking for a friendly, organised and reliable Part-Time Payroll Assistant to join our growing accountancy team.

This role would be perfect for someone looking for a part-time position with flexibility. Hours can be worked around school hours, and for the right person there may be the opportunity for the role to develop into a full-time position in the future as the business continues to grow.

You will work closely with our Payroll Manager, assisting with the day-to-day running of weekly and monthly client payrolls.

The Role

Your responsibilities will include:

Assisting with weekly and monthly payroll processing
Processing starters and leavers
Calculating holiday pay, statutory payments and deductions
Submitting payroll information to HMRC
Assisting with PAYE and National Insurance calculations
Processing and submitting pension contributions
Producing and issuing payslips
Preparing payroll reports for clients
Keeping payroll records accurate and up to date
Responding to client payroll queries
Working to strict payroll deadlines
Supporting the Payroll Manager with general payroll administration
Ensuring all payroll information is handled confidentially and accurately

About You

We are looking for someone who is:

Extremely organised with good attention to detail
Confident working with numbers
Reliable and able to meet deadlines
Comfortable working independently as well as part of a team
Friendly and confident communicating with clients
Willing to learn and develop
Hard-working with a positive attitude
Comfortable using computers and learning new software

Previous payroll experience would be beneficial, but we are also happy to consider someone with strong administration or accountancy experience who is keen to develop their payroll knowledge.

Alongside our general accountancy practice, Hayes Worth & Stone, we are also home to The Beauty Boss Accountant, a specialist accountancy brand supporting businesses throughout the hair, beauty and aesthetics industries.

Our team provides bookkeeping, payroll, VAT, accounts and tax support to businesses of all shapes and sizes.

We have built a relaxed and friendly working environment where everyone is encouraged to learn, develop and be part of the growth of the business.

We work hard, but we don't believe an accountancy office needs to be stuffy or corporate. We want people to enjoy coming to work, feel comfortable asking questions and know that their contribution to the team matters.

Working Hours

The position is initially 15–21 hours per week, with flexibility over how these hours are worked.

We are happy to consider school-hours working, making this a great opportunity for someone looking for a role that fits around family commitments.

As the role and business continue to grow, there may also be the opportunity to increase hours and progress into a full-time position.
