Full job description

McTaggart Construction is looking for a General Labourer to join our team on a new affordable housing development in Wallyford, East Lothian.

You'll play an important part in keeping the site safe, organised and running smoothly. This is a hands-on role where you'll work closely with the site team, support tradespeople and help maintain high standards across the project.

What you'll do

Keep the site clean, tidy and safe for everyone working on it.
Assist with setting up and maintaining site boundaries, barriers and pedestrian routes.
Load, unload and move materials around the site.
Support tradespeople and subcontractors with day-to-day tasks.
Carry out general labouring duties, including lifting and moving materials and using basic hand tools.
Help manage waste and follow recycling and segregation requirements.
Maintain welfare facilities and communal areas.
Follow site rules, procedures and health and safety requirements at all times.
Report any safety concerns, incidents or site issues to the Site Manager.
Support with the traffic management of the site.

What we're looking for

Applicants must have prior labouring experience in a construction environment.

Good understanding of site health and safety requirements.
Reliable, hardworking and able to work as part of a team.
Able to follow instructions and work using your own initiative.
Good timekeeping and attendance.
Physically fit and comfortable carrying out manual tasks.
Basic knowledge of construction materials and site equipment.
Valid CSCS Card.
First Aid qualification.
Full UK driving licence.
Vehicle Marshal certification is desirable.
