Overview
The Castle Inn, Dirleton is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Commis Chef/ Kitchen Assistant to join our culinary team. This position is perfect for individuals with a minimum of 1 year's experience in an professional kitchen, looking to develop a career in the industry. The successful candidate will have a passion for cooking and a desire to grow their culinary skills in a dynamic environment.

The job will be a combination of Commis Chef and KP shifts with the hope of developing into a Chef de Partie role

Rate of pay is from a minimum of £14.50 (including service charge) per hour, paid hourly but is negotiable depending on experience and progression

Duties

Assist in meal preparation and food preparation tasks, ensuring high standards of quality and presentation.
Support chefs in catering events by preparing ingredients and maintaining an organised workspace.
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen, including washing dishes, cleaning surfaces, and disposing of waste properly.
Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and hygiene standards at all times.

Qualifications

Previous kitchen experience or culinary experience is preferred but not essential; we welcome those eager to learn.
Familiarity with food safety practices and regulations is advantageous.
Strong organisational skills and the ability to work efficiently under pressure.
A team player with excellent communication skills, capable of following instructions accurately.
