Full job description

Job Summary

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated SEN Support Assistant to join our vibrant educational team. In this role, you will provide vital support to a child with special educational needs, ensuring they receive the tailored assistance necessary to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Your enthusiasm and commitment will help create an inclusive environment where every child feels valued, supported, and empowered to reach their full potential. Duties

Support children with diverse needs, including those with autism and other disabilities, in both classroom activities and social interactions
Assist teachers with planning and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each child's requirements
Provide one-on-one or small group support to facilitate learning and engagement for children with special needs
Help manage classroom behavior by employing positive reinforcement strategies and maintaining a calm, supportive presence
Engage in toddler care activities when required, fostering early developmental skills through play and structured routines
Communicate effectively with children, colleagues, parents, and external specialists to ensure consistent support strategies are applied
Observe and record children's progress, behaviors, and responses to interventions for ongoing assessment and reporting purposes

Skills

Proven experience working with individuals with autism and other disabilities in educational or care settings
Strong teaching skills with the ability to adapt approaches to meet each child's unique needs
Prior experience working with children across different age groups, including toddlers
Knowledge of special education practices and strategies for supporting diverse learners
Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members, parents, and external professionals
Patience, empathy, and a proactive attitude towards supporting children's development and well-being
