Role Purpose

The Assistant Set Builder is responsible for supporting the day-to-day maintenance of all studio aspects to ensure the consistent, high-quality function of the studio space and all set builds or changes. Acting as a runner to shoots, Art Directors, and Photographers, the Set Assistant provides essential assistance to ensure creative visions are realized safely and efficiently.

Role Responsibilities:

Set Build & Studio Maintenance

Ensure all set builds are correctly assembled in a safe and efficient manner.

Work in partnership with studio teams to follow Art Director briefs and photography lighting diagrams.

Take responsibility for the end-to-end maintenance of seasonal sets.

Assist photographers with lighting setups and equipment when required.

Maintain the cleanliness and tidiness of all studio sets.

Prop & Equipment Management

Manage the organisation, maintenance, and storage of all studio props.

Order props and equipment as needed, while accurately maintaining associated expenses.

Arrange couriers for the movement of props and products between different sites.

Assist in organizing studio equipment and sourcing the hire of any additional equipment required for specific projects.

Team Collaboration

Act as a runner for shoots, providing ad-hoc support to Art Directors, Photographers, and the Studio Manager.

Demonstrate excellent teamwork and communication skills to ensure seamless studio operations.

Technical Requirements

Knowledge of set builds, materials, and paints; experience configuring new set designs is a bonus.

Experienced in manual handling and comfortable moving heavy flats.

Previous experience using power tools and assembling sets/props; carpentry experience is preferable.

An interest in set design and knowledge of current photographic kit and equipment is desirable.
