Job Overview
This hands-on role is responsible for the complete mechanical, electrical, and maintenance operation of our electric go-kart fleet and racing facility. You will ensure all karts, track systems, and venue infrastructure are operating safely and at peak performance.
Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Mechanic to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining the fleet of Biz gokarts to ensure optimal operational efficiency. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a passion for mechanical work and a keen eye for detail to contribute to the smooth running of our operations. The position is paid and suitable for both experienced professionals and those seeking to develop their skills in a dynamic environment.Responsibilities
- Diagnose, service, and repair electric go-karts (motors, controllers, batteries, wiring, steering, braking systems, chassis, wheels, and safety systems)
- Perform routine preventative maintenance and safety inspections on all karts
- Maintain and repair track infrastructure, including barriers, timing systems, and safety equipment
- Perform general venue maintenance: lighting, minor electrical, doors, flooring, walls, plumbing repairs, and HVAC filter changes
- Respond quickly to mechanical faults during operating hours to reduce downtime
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs and service records
- Manage parts inventory and assist with ordering supplies
- Support kart rebuilds, upgrades, and fleet rotations
- Keep workshop clean, organized, and compliant with health & safety regulations
- Assist with emergency repairs and safety audits as required
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a mechanic, technician, or maintenance engineer (automotive, EV, motorsports, plant equipment, or similar)
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, battery-powered vehicles, and diagnostics
- Confident fault-finding and troubleshooting ability
- Experience with hand tools, power tools, and workshop equipment
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Physically fit and able to lift up to 75 lbs
- Flexible availability including evenings, weekends, and holidays
Highly Desirable (Not Essential)
- Experience with electric vehicles or electric go-karts
- Welding, fabrication, or mechanical engineering qualifications
- Track operations or amusement/leisure facility maintenance experience
- City & Guilds, NVQ, or trade certifications
