Identity Verification & Amendments Specialist
Location: Leatherhead, Surrey KT22 7BA
Type: Full-time, Permanent
Base Salary: £26,000 per year
On Target Earnings (OTE): £29,000

Smarter Cover is a hypergrowth Life Insurance Provider / Brokerage. We recently moved to a modern office in Leatherhead and are looking for a detail-driven and reliable Identity Verification & Amendments Specialist to join our well-established Compliance & QA function.

We operate in a regulated environment overseen by the FCA, ensuring a structured, compliant, and trustworthy process for both customers and our team.

Our in-house operations and sales teams generate a high volume of applications daily, meaning this role is critical in ensuring policies are accurately verified, compliant, and able to proceed to underwriting without delay.

Our modern Leatherhead office is centrally located near the train station and surrounded by pubs, shops, restaurants, and gyms—perfect for making the most of your breaks.

As an industry leader in the Life Insurance sector, we are seeking a highly accurate and process-driven individual who can manage sensitive compliance tasks while maintaining pace, quality, and professionalism.

Your Role

As an Identity Verification & Amendments Specialist, you will play a key role in ensuring applications are compliant, accurate, and ready for underwriting.
Completing manual identity verification (AML/KYC) checks using biometric and document-based systems
Ensuring customers are correctly verified before policies are placed on risk
Reviewing life insurance applications for missing or incorrect information
Managing amendments and corrections with customers and insurers
Communicating sensitive information clearly and professionally
Liaising with insurers to ensure accurate underwriting submissions
Managing a personal daily workload with strict deadlines
Ensuring full case ownership from start to completion
Working within FCA-regulated compliance and QA standards
Maintaining high accuracy across fluctuating daily volumes

Your Skills & Experience

Experience in life insurance, protection, underwriting support, QA, or new business administration
Strong understanding of protection application forms and underwriting principles
High attention to detail with a strong accuracy record
Ability to manage workload independently and meet deadlines
Clear and confident communication skills (written and verbal)
Comfortable handling sensitive customer and insurer conversations
Methodical, organised, and process-driven approach
Ability to work under pressure while maintaining compliance standards

Basics of the Role

Salary: £26,000 + Bonus
Realistic OTE: £29,000
Performance-based bonus structure (quality + SLA + volume metrics)
Monday to Friday: 9:00am – 6:00pm
Full-time onsite role (no hybrid working)

FCA-regulated environment
