SENIOR RELATIONSHIP DIRECTOR - LONDON / HYBRID / PERMANENT / £100000-£120,000 PLUS COMMISSION AND BENEFITS

About The Team / Role

The Strategic Account Director is a high-level commercial leader responsible for the stewardship of WEX’s most critical Tier-1 assets. This role is dual-faceted: managing a concentrated portfolio of top marquee clients, while simultaneously acting as a strategic advisor to the EMEA General Manager on regional growth strategy.

The Director is expected to be a "force multiplier," mentoring the wider portfolio team, leading cross-functional process improvements, and bridging the gap between New Sales, Product, and long-term Account Management.

How you’ll make an impact

Strategic Regional Leadership & Partnership

Regional Growth Strategy: Partner directly with the EMEA General Manager to define and execute the overall regional growth roadmap.
Internal Governance: Facilitate internal Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) and represent the account management team in high-level discussions with senior global leadership.
Sales-to-Portfolio Synergy: Collaborate with the Head of Sales to develop and refine the handover framework, ensuring a seamless transition from "New Business" to "Existing Portfolio" status.
Pillar Leadership: Lead specific "Pillars of Activity" to improve organizational efficiency (e.g., acting as the primary commercial lead for Credit or Legal to streamline ways of working).

Portfolio Management & Value Selling

Financial Ownership: Responsible for the health and growth of 20-30% of the regional NR; managing spend volumes of $2.5B+.
3-Year Account Planning: Develop multi-year strategic plans that leverage WEX’s payment technology to solve client-specific pain points and achieve their long-term corporate goals.
The "Booking-to-Pay" Audit: Map the client’s end-to-end payment flows to uncover integration opportunities and areas where WEX can add operational value.
Value Selling & ROI: Quantify the tangible ROI of WEX’s platform, moving the conversation from price-based features to value-based outcomes.
C-Suite Influence: Navigate dense stakeholder maps to build "Trusted Partner" status with the C-suite and key decision-makers.

Team Mentorship & Retention

Mentorship: Act as a formal leader and mentor for the wider Portfolio team, elevating the performance and strategic thinking of junior and mid-level managers.
Retention & NPS: Drive elite retention rates and a positive NPS trajectory by proactively identifying and neutralizing churn risks.

Experience you’ll bring

Proven track record in Strategic Account Management, Commercial Leadership, or Fintech Strategy.
Business Case Mastery: Ability to quantify opportunities and navigate internal approval processes for product/resource investment.
Organizational Navigability: Proven ability to influence support functions (Legal, Credit, Risk) to improve commercial velocity.
Mentorship: Experience in coaching high-performing sales or account management professionals.
Education: Relevant tertiary qualifications (MBA or Finance/Commerce degree preferred).
Communication: Exceptional presentation skills, capable of commanding a room of senior executives or internal global leaders.
Languages: Fluency in English and Spanish are essential.
