Location: Private family home, Surrey

Pay:

Weekday rate: £16 per hour

Weekend rate: £18 per hour

Job Description

We are recruiting passionate and enthusiastic Support Workers to join a dedicated and highly skilled bespoke care team, providing person‑centred, 24‑hour support to a 34‑year‑old man living in his own family home in Surrey. This role requires flexibility to work days, nights, weekends and bank holidays on a rota basis.

This is a rewarding opportunity for new and experienced support workers to deliver high‑quality, compassionate care to an individual with complex physical, sensory, and communication needs following a traumatic brain injury. The role focuses on promoting dignity, safety, comfort, and quality of life, while supporting the client to live meaningfully within his home and community.

The client lives with his father and is supported by an involved and caring family network, alongside a Case Manager and multidisciplinary team. He enjoys watching boxing, films, TV box sets, and spending time with the family pets (a large dog and a cat), which are an important part of his wellbeing.

The client is visually impaired and can startle easily, therefore staff must communicate calmly and clearly, explain actions in advance, and always seek consent before physical contact to promote reassurance, trust, and a sense of safety.

The Role Involves

Direct Care and Clinical Support

Monitoring and meeting all healthcare needs, including:
Skin integrity management
PEG care
Medication administration
Posture, splinting, and positioning
Oral hygiene
Providing full assistance with personal care, including washing, bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
Safely using and maintaining specialist equipment in line with training and care plans.
Observing and responding to changes in the client’s condition or non‑verbal communication, reporting concerns promptly.

Advocacy, Companionship, and Social Support

Providing meaningful companionship, reassurance, and emotional support.
Acting as an advocate, ensuring the client’s wishes, preferences, and best interests are respected.
Supporting community outings, appointments, and social activities.
Encouraging purposeful and enjoyable use of leisure time at home and in the community.
Accompanying the client on UK holidays when required, providing continuity of care.

Administration and Environment

Maintaining a safe, clean, and organised environment suitable for the client’s mobility and cognitive needs.
Completing daily care notes, monitoring records, and documentation accurately and on time.
Maintaining clear written and verbal handovers using the communication book.
Reporting equipment faults, incidents, or health and safety concerns promptly.
Liaising appropriately with the family and Case Manager regarding the client’s wellbeing and progress.

Professional Standards and Team Working

Maintaining confidentiality, professional boundaries, and respect for the client’s home at all times.
Communicating professionally with colleagues, using English at all times in the client’s presence to promote inclusion and reassurance.
Working collaboratively within a small team and using initiative when managing challenges.

Working Pattern

The successful candidates will join a highly skilled, established team, providing care on a rota basis, covering:

Day shifts.
Waking night shifts.
Weekdays, Weekends and Bank Holidays.

Flexibility is essential, as hours may vary in line with the client’s needs. Additional hours may occasionally be required for training, team meetings, or appointments, with reasonable notice provided wherever possible.
