About Us:

Southcroft Lodge provides hotel-style accommodation for patients discharged from hospital, support for those in Crisis in the Community, long-term supported-living community placements and B&B step-down from the hospital.

Our aim is to provide a therapeutic, structured environment for Clients to continue their recovery in the community. We empower the individuals we work with to realise their potential.

We are an expanding not-for-profit Social Care organization that provides high-quality accommodation and support for Service Users who experience Serious Mental Illnesses.

Position:

Benefits and Housing Coordinator

Salary Range: £ 28,000 - £30,000

Are you looking for a fulfilling job that supports other people?

Do you have lived experience of supporting people with applying for benefits?

If so, we are looking for a Benefits and Housing Coordinator to assist our Service Users with applying for benefits they are eligible for.

As our Benefits and Housing Coordinator, you’ll be the friendly, knowledgeable point of contact who ensures our Service Users understand and make the most of their benefits. You’ll play a key role in ensuring that their applications run smoothly, and you’ll help shape the Service Users’ experience by making complex information clear and accessible.

To ensure the company is compliant with local legal and government regulations, the Benefits and Housing Coordinator must be aware of relevant DWP and Government legislation and regularly monitor compliance. They will also have an awareness of any changes in central governmental Policy and any new or relevant regulations and be able to recommend changes to the Leadership Team to maintain the Company’s legality and compliance.

Requirements:

Education and Qualifications:

1.Certified Employee Benefits Specialist - Essential

Professional Certifications: Courses accredited by the Chartered Institute of Housing are widely recognized and valued by local authorities. -Essential

2.As minimum, GCSE at Grade 5 or above in Maths and English - Essential

3.In-depth understanding of Mental Health Service User benefits, allowances and applicable laws

4.Bachelor’s degree in business management, human resource management, organisational psychology, business administration or another related field or A degree in social policy, housing management, community development, or social work - Desirable

Experience:

1.At least three years of experience in benefits coordination; Typically, 12 to 24 months of experience working in a benefits assessment or housing advice role is required - Essential

2.Previous work experience as Payroll Administrator, HR Coordinator or Administrative Assistant or similar, relevant position. OR Previous work experience in Customer Service: Frontline or back-office customer service experience is highly valued, particularly dealing with sensitive situations or vulnerable clients. - Essential

3.Experience of working with vulnerable adults - Essential

4.Lived experience of Mental Health - Desirable

5.Maintaining Financial information on systems and databases - Essential

6.Working in an office environment - Essential

7.Working in a team - Essential

8.Experience of managing systems to promote efficiency - Desirable

9.Experience of producing financial reports - Desirable
