Full job description

Overview

We're looking for a talented baker to join our production kitchen at Grange Farm, creating beautiful cakes, bakes and seasonal treats for our farm shop and café.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who loves baking from scratch using quality, natural ingredients. You'll have the chance to be creative while helping shape our ever-changing range of homemade products.

We're looking for someone with enthusiasm, attention to detail, excellent organisational skills and a genuine passion for producing exceptional food. Whether you have years of professional experience or are a naturally gifted baker eager to develop your skills, we'd love to hear from you.

The Role

As our baker, you'll be responsible for producing a wide range of cakes, traybakes, desserts and seasonal specials while helping ensure the smooth running of our production kitchen.

Your responsibilities will include:

Preparing and baking a variety of cakes, traybakes, and other sweet treats using established recipes and seasonal ideas.
Decorating cakes and bakes to a consistently high standard using a variety of techniques.
Maintaining exceptional standards of food hygiene, cleanliness and food safety.
Keeping the kitchen organised, clean and well maintained.
Monitoring stock levels of ingredients and packaging, ensuring orders are placed in good time.
Maintaining stock levels of baked goods in both the café and farm shop.
Recording production, monitoring sales and planning future baking schedules.
Working alongside the Café Manager and Chef to plan kitchen usage, maximise production and organise daily and weekly task lists.
Managing ingredients efficiently to minimise waste and make the best use of refrigeration and freezer storage.
Supporting the development of new seasonal products and helping keep our range fresh and exciting.

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate will have:

Experience in baking, food production or a professional kitchen (preferred but not essential).
A genuine passion for baking and creating high-quality homemade food.
Excellent attention to detail and pride in presentation.
Good organisational and time management skills.
An understanding of food hygiene and food safety practices.
The ability to work independently while also contributing to a small, supportive team.
A proactive attitude and willingness to learn.
Confidence managing stock, planning production and working efficiently.
