Full job description

Purpose of the role

We're looking for an experienced QA Assistant Manager to support the leadership of our Quality Assurance and Hygiene functions at our Glemsford site. This is an excellent opportunity for a food manufacturing professional who is passionate about food safety, quality standards and continuous improvement.

Working Pattern: 09.00 – 17.00, Monday – Friday

Required skills and qualifications

Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Microbiology, Quality Management or a related discipline.
3-5 years' experience within a food manufacturing environment.
Experience within chocolate, confectionery, cocoa processing or a related sector.
Strong knowledge of HACCP, BRCGS, GMP and allergen management.
Experience participating in customer and third-party audits.
Excellent communication, leadership and problem-solving skills.

Preferred skills and qualifications

Lead Auditor, Internal Auditor or HACCP Level 4 qualification.
Experience with food safety culture programmes.
Continuous Improvement or Six Sigma training.
Experience working with M&S standards.

Key Responsibilities / Core Activities

Support the QA Manager in maintaining and improving the Food Safety Management System (FSMS).
Lead day-to-day food safety, quality, hygiene and compliance activities.
Manage and develop QA, QC and Hygiene teams.
Drive food safety culture initiatives across the site.
Support internal, customer and third-party audits, including BRCGS compliance.
Lead investigations into quality incidents and customer complaints, implementing effective corrective actions.
Act as deputy to the QA Manager, providing leadership and decision-making support when required.
