The opportunity
Do you enjoy speaking with customers, solving problems and keeping lots of moving parts organised? We’re looking for a positive and approachable Hire Desk Controller to join our Selby team.
You’ll be a key point of contact for customers throughout the hire process, from their first enquiry to delivery, collection and off-hire. Working closely with our transport, workshop, yard and depot teams, you’ll help make sure customers receive a smooth, reliable service.
Plant-hire experience would be helpful, but it isn’t essential. If you have strong customer-service or coordination experience, enjoy a busy environment and are keen to learn, we’d be pleased to hear from you.
What you’ll be doing
· Responding to customer calls, emails and hire enquiries in a friendly and professional way.
· Preparing quotations and helping turn enquiries into confirmed hires.
· Processing hires, extensions and off-hires accurately and promptly.
· Keeping customers updated about deliveries, collections and equipment availability.
· Working with transport planners, workshop and yard teams to coordinate each hire.
· Building strong relationships with existing and prospective customers.
· Keeping hire records and documentation accurate and up to date.
· Helping identify further ways we can support our customers and make the best use of our fleet.
What we’re looking for
· Experience in a customer-facing, administrative or coordination role.
· A confident, helpful communication style and a genuine focus on customer service.
· Good organisation and the ability to manage several priorities at once.
· Accuracy, attention to detail and confidence using Microsoft Office.
· A calm, practical approach to solving problems.
· A reliable team player who is willing to learn and get involved.
It would be great if you also have
· Experience in plant hire, tool hire, construction or equipment rental.
· Knowledge of a hire-management system such as InspHire.
· Experience coordinating transport, logistics or service operations.
