The role:

Clinical Engineer Specialist Clinical Technologist

Department of Clinical Physics and Bio-Engineering Medical Equipment Management

Who we are

Medical equipment is used for medical treatment and diagnosis of patients in all areas of a hospital and beyond. Having fully functional and accurate medical equipment is essential for the safe diagnosis and treatment of patients, and it is the Medical Equipment Management service that is responsible for that equipment.

The Medical Equipment Management service is a team of highly trained clinical engineer technologists who are experts on medical equipment. We work across ten hospital sites in NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde, managing the full life cycle of over 55,000 medical equipment devices, completing more than 60,000 jobs per year.

The opportunity

You will join a team of clinical engineer technologists based at the Royal Hospital for Children, supporting the management of equipment within the Medical Device Library.

You will have a permanent contract with a 36-hour working week that is Monday to Friday. Every day is different, you will help to ensure that medical equipment is available in clinical areas, perform tests on low risk and noncomplex medical equipment, or manage the organisation and ordering of parts for medical equipment. You will receive training on medical equipment management systems and processes, and on the testing of low-risk and non-complex medical equipment, which will enable you to commission, calibrate, performance assure and repair that equipment. Permanent Contract
Full-time position (36 hours per week)
The shift pattern for this post is Monday to Friday, working 7.2 hours per day

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

We are looking for people that are passionate about medical equipment, patient safety, engineering and helping people. People that work well in a team and have a desire to learn.

Educated to SCQF Level 6
Knowledge of medical equipment or general engineering principles
Good organisational and communication skills
Excellent manual dexterity
