Full job description

To provide administrative support to the clerical and clinical staff in the Pre-Operative Assessment Unit. The successful candidate will be expected to cross-cover their administrative colleagues during periods of absence.

The main administrative functions of this role include general ward clerk duties, arranging pre-op appointments for patients and supporting the departments with administrative duties/requirements.

To provide a clerical service to the Pre-operative Assessment Unit - undertaking work-related correspondence, photocopying, filing, retrieval of documents and patient case notes, ward clerking duties, according to the requirements of the service.

To provide advice and information on outpatient appointments and clinic arrangements. Communicate all relevant information to patients and ensure that they receive adequate notice of their appointments and any subsequent amendments

Develop the ability to use the required electronic systems for correspondence, recording, retrieval and maintenance of information, as and when required.

To liaise closely with the surgical medical secretaries regarding daily and weekly Pre-Op Assessment capacity and escalate any concerns to the Pre-op Pathway Navigator.

To book Pre-Op assessments for patients in accordance with the National RTT targets and in line with the surgical bookings of patients.
