Job Title: Deputy Manager
Location: Ash House Residential Children's Home
Company: Super Young Minds

Job Purpose:
The Deputy Manager will be responsible to the Registered Manager for the day-to-day running of the home and the delivery of care to the children. This role ensures that the team maintains child-centred principles, provides direct care and safeguarding to the children and young people, and operates within legal parameters as described in the company’s policies and procedures. The Deputy Manager will support the service's business, clinical, and social development, share responsibility in protecting company assets, and proactively secure a positive company image.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead a team of residential care staff during shifts, ensuring safe and appropriate care practices.
Assume overall management responsibility for the home during the manager's absence.
Support the manager in all aspects of operational management.
Maintain the development of safe and positive childcare practices in line with the establishment's aims and objectives.
Provide a safe, warm, and supportive environment for children and young people.
Participate in the planning and organization of the home.
Maintain a regular system of recording for each young person to track plans and progress in line with the Children's Home’s Regulations 2015.
Implement care plans and assist in the provision of reports when required.
Ensure care staff conduct themselves within the guidelines of the establishment during shifts.
Assist with the development, implementation, and review of home policies.
Delegate tasks to residential staff and seniors.
Coordinate the daily routine of the home.
Promote and maintain high standards of cleanliness.
Participate in the general activities of the establishment.
Utilize personal skills to maximize opportunities for each child or young person.
Make outside contacts individually and through various activities developed within and outside the establishment.
Undertake delegated household duties.
Attend and deliver regular supervision sessions as required.
Attend team meetings and training sessions as required.
Accept responsibility for money required in carrying out necessary duties.
Undertake sleeping-in duties as required.
Comply with the policies and procedures of the establishment.
Be available on an on-call basis to cover staff shortfalls and operational deficiencies.
Handle telephone enquiries and undertake administrative duties such as logbooks, daily logs, incident forms, handovers, etc.
Maintain case file records.
Perform any other duties as reasonably requested by the manager.

Responsibilities:

Foster and encourage contact between children, young people, and their families.
Maintain good liaison and cooperation with external agencies and professionals (e.g., social workers, consultant staff, schools).
Develop a responsible attitude with children and young people regarding the fabric, furnishings, equipment, supplies, and services in/out of the establishment.
Support children and young people in all domestic aspects of their personal space and the communal area of the home.
Demonstrate sensitivity and appropriate assertiveness.
Work in a pressured environment with diverse groups of children, young people, and staff.
Carry out duties in a mature and responsible manner, seeking and receiving support as necessary.
Use adequate training such as de-escalation, breakaway, and physical intervention if a child’s behavior is dangerous to others or themselves, in accordance with procedural guidelines and relevant legislation.
Participate in the construction and implementation of care plans for individual young persons placed.

Other Requirements:

Sleeping-in/shift work, including evenings, bank holidays, and weekends on a rota system.
Be part of the management on-call rota. Additional pay
