Director of Inclusion and Wellbeing

College location: East Surrey College (Redhill) and John Ruskin College (Selsdon)

Salary: £66,864.8

Hours: 37hous(8:45 – 17:00 Mon-Fri)

Interviews: 20th August onwards

Orbital South Colleges Group is seeking an inspirational Director of Inclusion and Wellbeing to provide strategic leadership for our Inclusion, Safeguarding and Wellbeing services. This pivotal role will ensure that all learners, including those with SEND and additional vulnerabilities, have access to high-quality support that enables them to thrive, achieve and progress.

Reporting to the Assistant Principal Student Support, you will lead the development and delivery of a college-wide strategy for inclusion, safeguarding and wellbeing. You will oversee key areas including SEND, learning support, safeguarding, Prevent, wellbeing, EHCP compliance and high needs funding, ensuring services are effective, compliant and learner-focused.

As Director of Inclusion and Wellbeing, you will:

Lead the College’s Inclusion, SEND and Wellbeing strategy.
Provide strategic leadership for safeguarding and child protection.
Champion mental health, wellbeing and personal development across the College.
Oversee high-quality Learning Support provision and inclusive practice.
Build strong partnerships with Local Authorities and external agencies.
Lead and develop high-performing teams across Inclusion and Wellbeing.
Ensure resources and services are aligned to learner needs and strategic priorities.

The successful candidate must:

Have a Degree or equivalent professional qualification in a relevant field (e.g. education, social work, psychology, health, youth work)
Have Safeguarding Level 3 (or willingness to achieve upon appointment), with proven completion of or commitment to undertake Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) training
Have a recognised leadership or management qualification (e.g. ILM, NVQ Level 5+, or equivalent experience) is desirable
Strong understanding of SEND legislation, the SEND Code of Practice and EHCP processes
Significant experience of leadership and management within Further Education or a similar setting, including leading and managing multi-disciplinary teams and workforce development
