The College of Health and Society are seeking to appoint a Placement Officer. The post holder will predominantly support students and academic colleagues on our Allied Health programmes where placements form a significant part of the students learning journey. You will be responsible for ensuring that students are allocated to placements which meet their needs and those of the programme they are studying. You will maintain excellent working relationships with our placement providers, drawing upon your problem solving and customer service skills to ensure an excellent placement experience for students and our partners.

You’ll be experienced in the use of placement management software, such as InPlace, or have confidence in your ability to develop your skills in this area. Attention to detail is a must, as you will be responsible for ensuring we are also meeting the exacting requirements of our Professional, Statutory and Regulatory Bodies (PSRB’s) when it comes to placement hours and requirements. Finally, you’ll be joining an established team so we are looking for someone who works well with others but is also able to take initiative, make decisions and solve problems independently.

Responsible to: Senior School Registrar

Job Purpose:

To support the Senior School Registrar and colleagues in the College of Health and Society in the planning, allocation and co-ordination of placements and practice learning opportunities for health and society students.

To practice an inclusive approach and support building an inclusive university community where people can be themselves.

Main Duties & Responsibilities of the role:

To plan and co-ordinate the placement allocation of health and society students and learners
To maintain and manage accurate records on designated student cohorts, ensuring that the correct marks and hours are recorded for reporting student progression and awards at the Boards of Examiners. To advise students and Boards on deficit hours.
To ensure that the overall placement planner is adhered to, with Business Partners informed of students’ details at least two months in advance.
To ensure that practice documents are submitted on time, that hours are recorded and passed to the appropriate members of academic staff for verification within set timescales.
To liaise with the School Registry regarding the suspension, withdrawals and resumptions of students from their course/cohort.
To build and maintain strong working relationships with Business Partners, Managers, Supervisors / Assessors, Academic staff, Administrative staff and Students in relation to placements via written correspondence, telephone, email or in person.
Provide support to Students, Academics and practice partners regarding the practice curriculum.
To use Placement Management Systems and liaise with relevant stakeholders to clarify any issues and/or, upload data and produce reports.
Comply with relevant legislative and other requirements (e.g., the Data Protection Act 2018 and GDPR; Health and Safety; UKVI; and Equality and Diversity) in all working practices.

Such other duties temporarily or on a continuing basis, as may reasonably be required.
