Full job description

At Tolly's we serve breakfast, brunch & lunch. We are open Monday - Sunday. We are looking for a kitchen assistant to support our head chef in the day to day running in the kitchen. The hours would be roughly 9:30- 16:30, Saturday & Sunday. This job opportunity is NOT in Chippenham and you will need your own transport.

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in supporting the kitchen operations by assisting with food preparation, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring adherence to food safety standards. This position is perfect for individuals looking to gain experience in a fast-paced kitchen environment, whether in a restaurant or catering setting.

Duties

Assist chefs with meal preparation and cooking tasks as directed
Prepare ingredients by washing, chopping, and measuring as required
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, including washing dishes and utensils
Ensure all food safety protocols are followed to maintain a hygienic working environment
Help with the setup and breakdown of kitchen stations for service
Support catering events by assisting with food presentation and service
Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient kitchen operations

Qualifications

Previous experience in a kitchen or restaurant environment is preferred but not essential
Basic knowledge of culinary techniques and food preparation methods
Understanding of food safety regulations and practices
Ability to work effectively in a team and communicate clearly
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
Willingness to learn and take on new challenges within the kitchen
