Deputy Manager – Glenlyn, Exminster, Devon - CQC rating 'GOOD'

Salary: £30,478 per annum
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday (with occasional shift cover during staff absence)
Sleep-in shifts: Optional at £82.04 per night
Annual Leave: 29 days (inclusive of bank holidays)

Caraston Hall Support Ltd is looking for a compassionate and motivated Deputy Manager to join our friendly and supportive team at Glenlyn, our beautiful eight-bedroom supported living home in Exminster.

Glenlyn provides 24-hour support to adults with long-term mental illness, learning disabilities and autistic spectrum conditions. The service is registered with CQC to provide personal care and has an excellent reputation for delivering person-centred support that promotes independence, wellbeing and recovery.

Working alongside an experienced on-site Service Manager, this is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Support Worker, Team Leader or existing Deputy Manager looking to develop their management career within a well-established organisation.

About the role

As Deputy Manager you will play a key role in the day-to-day management of the service, supporting both the staff team and the people we support. You will lead by example, ensuring high standards of care, safety and regulatory compliance.

Your responsibilities will include:

Supporting and motivating a team of approximately 10 Support Workers.
Providing supervision, mentoring and day-to-day leadership.
Promoting safe, effective and person-centred support.
Coordinating daily staffing, rotas and shift allocation.
Supporting staff with complex client needs, risk management and best practice.
Completing assessments, support plans and regular reviews.
Producing high-quality reports for commissioners and other professionals.
Carrying out medication audits and health and safety audits.
Conducting monthly health and safety audits.
Carrying out weekly medication audits.
Supporting the Service Manager with regulatory compliance and CQC standards.
Participating in the management on-call rota alongside Senior Support Workers and the Service Manager.
Assisting with delegated health and safety responsibilities, including fire safety, maintenance schedules and statutory checks.

Experience and Knowledge desired

We are looking for someone who is organised, approachable and passionate about supporting people to achieve positive outcomes.

You will ideally have:

NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent), with a willingness to work towards a Level 5 qualification.
Experience working with adults experiencing mental ill health, learning disabilities or autism.
Experience supervising or mentoring staff, ideally as a Senior Support Worker, Team Leader or Deputy Manager.
Good knowledge of person-centred care and positive risk management.
Excellent communication, organisational and IT skills.
The ability to produce accurate records, assessments and professional reports.

Knowledge of the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act and Mental Health Act would be an advantage.
