Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Assistant to support our culinary team in delivering high-quality meals and maintaining a clean, organised kitchen environment. This role is ideal for individuals with a passion for food preparation and a keen interest in the hospitality industry. The successful candidate will assist with meal preparation, food safety, and general kitchen duties to ensure smooth daily operations. This paid position offers valuable experience in catering and restaurant settings, providing opportunities for professional growth within the culinary sector.

Responsibilities

Assist with meal preparation, including chopping, peeling, and assembling ingredients
Support chefs with food safety procedures and maintain hygiene standards in the kitchen
Help with food presentation and plating to ensure appealing dish presentation
Organise and clean workstations, utensils, and equipment regularly
Assist in storing ingredients correctly and managing stock levels
Support serving staff during busy periods by delivering meals or clearing tables as required
Follow health and safety guidelines at all times to prevent accidents or contamination
Contribute to maintaining a safe, efficient, and welcoming kitchen environment

Skills

Previous experience in catering, cooking, or restaurant environments is desirable but not essential
Knowledge of food preparation techniques and basic culinary skills
Familiarity with food safety standards and hygiene practices
Ability to work efficiently under supervision while maintaining attention to detail
Good organisational skills and ability to prioritise tasks effectively
Excellent teamwork and communication skills
