Hotel General Assistant - Discounted sharing accommodation available

Reports to: Operations Manager Location: The Falcon at Castle Ashby

Role Summary

The Hotel General Assistant supports the smooth daily operation of the hotel by maintaining exceptional cleanliness standards, assisting with guest services, and ensuring all public areas and back‑of‑house facilities are presented to a 5‑star standard. This role includes daytime operational duties as well as night portering responsibilities when required.

Key Responsibilities

Public Area Cleaning & Housekeeping

Clean and maintain all public areas including lobbies, corridors, restrooms, lounges, and staff areas.
Hoovering carpets, rugs, and soft‑floor areas throughout the hotel.
Mopping hard floors, ensuring surfaces are spotless and safe.
Dusting, polishing, and maintaining high standards of presentation across all guest‑facing spaces.
Replenish consumables in public restrooms and service areas.

Equipment & Back‑of‑House Support

Clean and maintain coffee machines, ensuring correct operation and hygiene standards.
Load, unload, and operate dishwashers; ensure all crockery, cutlery, and glassware are cleaned and stored correctly.
Assist with general kitchen cleanliness and basic stewarding tasks.
Report any maintenance issues promptly to the Operations Manager.

Night Portering Duties

Provide overnight support including security checks, monitoring entrances, and ensuring guest safety.
Assist late‑arriving guests with check‑ins, luggage handling, and general enquiries.
Prepare public areas for the following day, ensuring cleanliness and readiness.
Support emergency procedures and act as a point of contact during night hours.

Guest Service & Operational Support

Offer friendly, professional assistance to guests at all times.
Support the Operations Manager with ad‑hoc tasks to ensure smooth hotel operations.
Maintain confidentiality, professionalism

Skills & Attributes

Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining high standards.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Reliable, punctual, and flexible with working hours (including nights).
Good communication skills and a positive, guest‑focused attitude.
Physically able to perform cleaning and manual tasks.

Requirements

Previous experience in hospitality, housekeeping, or cleaning roles preferred but not essential.
Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and nights as required.
Understanding of basic health & safety and hygiene standards.

Pay: £12.99 per hour
