About Us
Crusoe Contemporary is an established contemporary art business working with artists, collectors and some of the world's most recognised contemporary artists.
Alongside our gallery business, we have developed Artist Development Vanguard (ADV) — our artist partnership division designed to help ambitious artists build commercially successful, professional art careers.
We work with artists who are serious about turning their artwork into a sustainable business, helping them with areas including positioning, pricing, marketing, collector acquisition, sales, social media, exhibitions and business development.
We are now looking for an Appointment Setter to join the ADV team and help us connect with more of the right artists.
The Role
As an Appointment Setter, your role will be to speak with artists who have expressed an interest in developing their career and identify whether there is a genuine fit for our Artist Development Vanguard partnership.
Your primary objective is simple:
Have quality conversations with artists and book qualified appointments for our Artist Development team.
This is a phone-based role, so confidence, communication skills and the ability to build rapport quickly are essential.
You will not be expected to close the partnership yourself. Your job is to understand the artist, establish their situation and goals, qualify their interest and book them into a consultation with one of our senior team members.
What You'll Be Doing
- Contacting artists who have expressed interest in ADV
- Speaking with artists over the phone and understanding their current position and ambitions
- Building rapport and having genuine conversations rather than simply reading from a script
- Identifying artists who are a strong fit for the ADV partnership
- Asking effective qualifying questions around their career, goals, challenges and current sales
- Handling common questions and objections confidently
- Booking qualified artists into appointments with our senior Artist Development team
- Following up with prospects who have not yet booked
- Maintaining accurate notes and updating our CRM
- Working closely with the sales and artist development team
- Consistently working towards agreed appointment-setting and conversion targets
Who We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who is:
- Confident and naturally comfortable speaking to people on the phone
- A strong communicator who can hold an engaging conversation
- Commercially minded and motivated by targets
- Comfortable asking questions and qualifying prospects
- Persistent without being pushy
- Organised and reliable
- Competitive and motivated to improve
- Able to take feedback and implement coaching quickly
- Comfortable using CRM systems and basic technology
- Interested in sales, business development or the creative industries
Previous appointment-setting, telesales, business development or sales experience is highly desirable.
However, we're also open to candidates with strong communication skills and the right attitude who are looking to develop their career in sales.
What You'll Need to Succeed
The best person for this role will understand that appointment setting isn't about simply making calls.
It's about having good conversations.
You'll need to be able to listen, understand what someone is trying to achieve, identify whether we can genuinely help them and confidently guide them towards the next step.
You should be comfortable hearing "no", dealing with objections and picking up the phone again.
You'll also need to be motivated by performance. We have clear targets, but we'll provide the training, scripts, systems and coaching required to help you achieve them.
What We Offer
- Competitive base salary
- Uncapped / performance-based commission
- Full training on our ADV offer and appointment-setting process
- Regular sales coaching and feedback
- Warm and qualified inbound leads
- Proven scripts and sales frameworks
- CRM and sales systems provided
- Opportunity to progress within a growing business
- Opportunity to develop into a closer / senior sales role for the right person
- Work within the contemporary art and artist development industry
- A performance-driven but supportive team environment
Career Progression
This role is designed to be more than simply an appointment-setting position.
For the right person, there is a clear opportunity to progress into a Senior Appointment Setter, Sales Closer or Business Development role as you develop your skills and consistently perform.
We are looking for people who want to grow with the business.

Successful applicants may be invited to an initial telephone interview followed by a practical sales/appointment-setting assessment.
