Full job description

Job Summary
The Activities Director plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for residents in our care home by planning, organising, and implementing engaging activities tailored to their interests and needs. This position requires a compassionate individual who can effectively communicate with seniors, particularly those in assisted living and nursing home settings, ensuring that all activities promote social interaction, mental stimulation, and overall well-being.

Duties

Develop and implement a diverse range of activities that cater to the physical, emotional, and social needs of residents.
Coordinate with staff to ensure activities are well-organised and adequately resourced.
Engage residents in meaningful conversations to understand their preferences and encourage participation in planned events.
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of activities, making adjustments as necessary to enhance resident engagement.
Foster a safe and supportive environment for all participants, particularly those with dementia or other cognitive impairments.
Collaborate with families and caregivers to involve them in the planning process and encourage their participation in activities.
Maintain accurate records of attendance and feedback on activities to report to management.

Skills

Strong communication skills to effectively interact with seniors, staff, and families.
Experience or knowledge in senior care, particularly within nursing homes or assisted living environments.
Ability to create engaging programmes that cater to diverse interests and abilities.
Compassionate approach towards residents, especially those requiring dementia care.
Excellent organisational skills to manage multiple activities simultaneously.
Creative thinking to develop innovative ideas for resident engagement.
Ability to work collaboratively within a team while also being self-motivated.

This role is essential for fostering a vibrant community atmosphere within our care home, ensuring that all residents feel valued and connected.
