The Institute of Health Informatics (IHI) is a vibrant, collaborative environment at the heart of UCL’s world-leading Faculty of Population Health Sciences.

The IHI was established in August 2014 within the Faculty of Population Health Sciences. Our mission is to conduct high-quality, data-intensive research to improve health outcomes locally, nationally, and globally.

About the role

We’re looking for a Clinical Research Fellow to join our team and help shape the future of health informatics. We are seeking a ambitious, self-directed Clinical Research Fellow to join a multidisciplinary team of researchers (human genetics, health data science, epidemiology) delivering transformational insights into the aetiology and genetic basis of the cardiomyopathies and heart failure with preserved ejection fraction.

This is a part-time post (18.25 hours/week), funded until 31 January 2028, with the possibility of extension.

This role does not meet the eligibility requirements for a Skilled Worker Visa certificate of sponsorship under UK Visas and Immigration legislation. Therefore UCL will not be able to sponsor individuals who require right to work in the UK to carry out this role.

About you

f you believe you meet the requirements, come and be part of this unique and exciting opportunity and contribute to our mission to improve health outcomes through research.

You’ll have:

Medical degree and specialist training in cardiovascular medicine, with a clinical interest in heart failure and cardiomyopathy
Research training in relevant disciplines e.g. genetics of disease progression, multi-omics analysis, and epidemiology.
Demonstrable expertise in controlled clinical terminologies (e.g. SNOMED, ICD-10) and working with health record data.
Publications in relevant area of research and commensurate with career stage, and evidence of increasing research independence.
Familiarity with genomic data formats (e.g., VCF, BED, BAM) and databases (e.g., 1000 Genomes, gnomAD, UK Biobank).
